Hi! I have done my masters in Applied Psychology and currently working as a Visiting Faculty (Assistant Professor Grade) with a private university in India for about 1 and a half years. My contract letter shows details regarding my teaching workload per week, i.e., the number of lectures and tutorials/practical. But it does not have any details regarding the number of hours I need to devote for other activities, like preparation of lectures, research assignments, student consultation, setting question papers, and evaluation. Since these activities are a part of my profession and take a huge amount of time other than teaching classes, I have no idea how to convert them into total working hours. Also, I do not have strict working hours in my university for a visiting faculty. We can come and go at any time, provided we take all lectures assigned in the timetable. Please help, how can I show this work experience as a 1 year experience and 1560 hours in total for my PR application

Unfortunately it only states the number of teaching hours and does not specify the number of hours required each week.

Then you will have to prove it with pay stubs to show you are paid for the hours. You need some documentation you were paid for those hours and it wasn’t included as pay of just teaching time.

I usually get a consolidated payment at the end of month. It only includes money for teaching hours and conveyance. But my employment does include all other roles and responsibilities. Can I ask my employer to certify the number of hours in a work experience letter?

Ask your employer to state all hours, not just teaching hours. If your employment letters states more than just teacher responsibilities then total hours should be included. Your salary should be included in the letter too. As outlined on the EE website, the letter must state the following.

The following documents are mandatory for each work experience declared:

  • a reference or experience letter from the employer, which
    • should be an official document printed on company letterhead (must include the applicant’s name, the company’s contact information [address, telephone number and email address], and the name, title and signature of the immediate supervisor or personnel officer at the company),
    • should indicate all positions held while employed at the company and must include the following details: job title, duties and responsibilities, job status (if current job), dates worked for the company, number of work hours per week and annual salary plus benefits

Thanks for your prompt reply. Will ask my employer to include all the above mentioned details
