Hello Everyone !!

I have a question about this category also.
Like I worked as TA in college while on my SP for 1 year more than 30 hrs/week. Should it count in EE or CEC or FSW ?
Currently I am working as TA also but on PGWP and I have 30 hrs/week.
Please let me know if someone know about this?
Thanks

Hi guys, I am a PhD candidate at uOttawa. I have been receiving money monthly under the soft-funded research bursary provided through my supervisor. In our contract there is a description of my required tasks as research for my professor, helping her with her website, researching for and writing a chapter of a book etc. Can I use this for EE application under the federal skilled worker stream? It's been 14 months i think. but there is no indication of weekly hours. has anyone applied and succeeded in this way? thank you!!!

Thank you for your reply. But you had this experience in another country, right? I guess IRCC makes a distinction between international 4012 experience and Canadian 4012 experience. I would like to know about the Canadian experience though.

Hi
I recently got PR in March 2020 under noc 4012 for PhD with fellowship. You can email on mandakini15leo@gmail.com. yes it is possible. I never submitted pay slips. I can email you reference letter and answer other queries
Hello! Congrats on your PR!! I am applying under the same Noc and also for PhD with fellowship. Could I also contact you regarding some doubts? Furthermore, I am in doubt reading what I need to put it as the "employer" at the "Work history" section. Should it be the University which I worked on or the grant and funding agency? Thank you so much for your help!

Congrats! Which employer did you use, the University where you did your PhD or the funding agency which paid for the PhD? Thank you so much for any help with that!

I did not get any form of document from the entity paying for my scholarship because they transfer 6 months of scholarship to the university and the corresponding department pays me a monthly scholarship. So I asked my university to give me a letter stating that I am receiving the scholarship and also asked them to list monthly compensation for the last year since we do not have any pay stubs.

Hello calis_s,

I am in similar situation as you were in. I am full time PhD student receiving a monthly scholarship amount and planning to get this experience counted under NOC 4012. I am currently getting my reference letters prepared. Could you please share the reference letters you submitted as part of your EE application? It will be really helpful for me and the forum's members too. You can of course hide your personal details and salary information.

Thanks

Awesome!

Thanks a ton. Do you think it is a nice idea to mention that I was a PhD student or does that make things a bit confusing?
May I also ask what stage is your application at?

Thanks once again. Thank you everybody who contributed to this thread.

No problem at all! I also considered stating that I was a PhD student, but since I have passed my proficiency exam for PhD I decided to state PhD candidate which looks more professional Student might be confusing in my opinion.

As far as I know from the phone calls I made with IRCC, my eligibility is passed and info sharing is in progress. Criminality and security are yet to start

Hello everyone,

I am currently a full time PhD candidate in Canada. Based on the information I found online, I'm thinking about applying for FSW using my PhD work experience. However, I'm still not sure if I can use my experience or not because I don't have any letter for my addmisison thay clearly mentiones an RA position with hours, salary, etc. I can definitely get a letter from my supervisor. However, I wanna make sure that I won't need an initial contract with such information, and that only a letter will suffice. In other words, does being a PhD student deny RA position unless RA position and job description being clearly mentioned in the PhD admission?

Also, regarding working hours, should I put 40 hrs/week based on being full time student, or should I separate the working hours from PhD itself and RA? E.g. 20 hours of RA.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I did my PhD from India and worked as a TA/RA during my PhD under UGC fellowship. I have managed to get a letter from my supervisor stating my work during my fellowship period. UGC used to send my salary to my university, which would disburse it directly to my bank account. I worked as a Junior Research Fellow from 2011 til 2014 and as a Senior Research Fellow from 2014 till 2016. My salary as a JRF was 16,000 per month and as an SRF was 25,000, with an HRA of 30%. However, there came a notice by UGC which raised the salary of SRF from 25,000 to 28,000. But the office order was released by my university in 2017 to pay the arrears of 3,000 per month retrospectively. I recently got the bank statements from my bank, which we unfortunately incomplete. But I do have a few entries sporadically where I can show the amount 16,000 and 25,000 credited. The arrears amount came in 2017, for which my bank did not give statement and I intend to request them again (which is a long process in India).

There are a few issues here:

  1. The salary written in my reference letter for SRF is 28,000. My university has apparently lost the office order which raised my amount of SRF from 25,000 to 28,000. I have the order number with me but they cannot trace it. If I got this I could have proven that I was getting 28,000.
  2. My university sometimes would disburse the money for odd periods. Forexample, they would disburse it for 1 month and 10 days. So in some bank entries the amount mentioned is 18,666.7 (an not 16,000). Similarly for SRF amounts. And some times they would merge this amount with House Rent Allowance and sometimes these two would be paid separately. And some times this would be compounded by paying salary for 3 months together, I tried bifurcating but doing it with all the entries is very complicated. How do I explain this in my explanation letter?
  3. If the chairperson of my department writes that I used to get SRF for 25,000 which got increased to 28,000 would that suffice?
Please help. Please suggest any other alternative documents which I can present to support my case. I would not be able to prove my work experience?
