Hello everyone,

I heard Canada is looking for 90, 000 people to apply for permanent residency from May 8 to November, or when the numbers they need is achieved.Among the 90,000 slot, 40,000 students are to apply for the permanent residency but the slot is filled up, so I can no longer apply in that category.
I just graduated this April, 2021, and just got a job as a labourer in a construction company. All through 2020, I didn’t work because of the COVID pandemic. I just got a job in May, 2021.
For the fact that I just started working, Can I apply under essential workers as a construction labourer? And secondly, My student permit expired in March 31st, 2021, but I was able to apply for an extension, and till now, it hasn’t been approved yet but IRCC is still processing it.
With all these, I want to know if I can apply as an essential workers among the 90,000 people that Canada needs? Any answers to this will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

How can you apply if you don't have 1,560 hours in essential NOC?

Thank you for your reply, but I have something to add. I have been in Canada since 2016 and I was working as a cashier and Janitor in a casino but I did janitorial most of the time. I ended the job in 2018 summer. The hours I did between 2016-2018 is up to the 1560 hours as a Janitor. In 2019, I worked only in the summer and in 2020, I didn’t work at all because of the COVID. I just graduated from college this April 2021. I am supposed to apply for my work permit now but I am still waiting for my study permit extension to be approved. My study permit expired in March 31, 2021, but I have applied for an extension, but it has not be approved yet but IRCC is still processing it.
With my hours in my previous job as a janitor, which is up to the required hours (1560), can I apply still as an essential worker?

You need 1 year of work experience (at least 1,560 hours) in the past 3 years so since May 2018.
