Hello,

My CRS is 467. I am based in India and have MS (from US) in Electrical Engineering with 7+ years of relevant experience in NOC of 2147 which is eligible for OINP tech draws. I missed the last tech draw narrowly by 1 day (created express entry profile on April 14). I have spent almost 9 years of my life in US before I decided to relocate to India for personal reasons. However, things are not working out here and I am looking for a Canadian option.

Since due to this COVID and express entry uncertainty, I also applied in few universities for Fall 2021. I have been admitted in 2 of them for second Master's while the results of other 3 are awaited. So right now I am in kind of fix. After discussing with multiple people, it seems that I should most likely get NOI in next tech draw. However, according to some people if I start the university process now it might give me some issues in student permit if my OINP and/or Express entry profile goes in parallel.

So not sure what is the best solution in my situation? Should I try to defer the admit? Anyway, due to the ongoing COVID situation, not anyway sure how the policies would be. Also, is this admit and my application to colleges in Ontario used as "Ties with Ontario" in the OINP application where we have to demonstrate we are committed to live in ON?

Its a bit confusing to me, different people have different opinion. Please comment, Thank you

You should wait till the next tech draw. You're most likely to be considered.

Thank you. Actually since the college starts in September 2021, I have to make a call. I was seeing the trend, it seems Tech draws are every 2 months :( I missed the April one narrowly..And dont know if in probably June one I dont get in or not. I was checking draws from last year, some had the range 450-462 for NOI. In that case, I wont get the NOI :(

You missed the previous tech draw because you weren't into the pool. Since, you're into the pool now so you have fair chances to be considered into the very next OINP tech draw.

does your NOC code is considered under tech draw/priority occupation for OINP?. You can check previous draws cut-off scores here.

Yep my NOC is 2147. I am eligible for tech draws and eligible for all of them for this year. Last year ones had low scores :( maximum till 460 only at times. So that's why I was concerned, I knew this tech draw I would have been picked. Hopefully, in next tech draw maybe in June I am picked.
