Hello! I submitted my spousal application on 5th april and according to the courier services the embassy has received it. How long would they take to respond? And by when should I be expecting an email ?

It will take a few months for IRCC to acknowledge the application has been received.

I assume you sent the application to the required visa processing centre and not to the embassy.

According to IRCC website, the processing time for outland visa applicants is about 360 days. I applied for my wife in January and haven't received approval yet.
