i applied citizenship last year, and no news yet. i just have acknowledge letter. I am currently outside of canada and not foreseeing to come back this year or next year.

are test, interview, oath ceremony are done online? If so, i wont have any trouble, but if I have to physically present in Canada, it will be very difficult as I can't do quarantine in both countries.

can you share your experience of test, interview, and oath ceremony? and is there any other event that I need to attend physically?

thanks!
You must be in Canada for both the test and the oath. During the test, the system will ask you to confirm that you are in Canada. During the oath ceremony, a clerk will ask you to confirm that you are in Canada. If you are found to not be in Canada for either event then they may cancel your application and you will have to do the process all over again.

Thanks for the info. I will be in Canada then... but how do they know that I am in Canada?! i assume there are people who lied. not that I am going to lie or anything but i am just curious how they can ensure everybody is resident in Canada by just asking verbal question.

As per IRCC and the law, as far as I know you should be physically present in Canada for test and Oath.

Dude, things are digital now a days, when you connect for test and oath, there dozens of things that they ask you to accept and one is to film and store your data. Your internet IP and digital fingerprint will show from where you are connected. I would not risk it.

Thanks. Just wondering what is the time frame for test and oath? I wonder if I can request to occur in the very short time frame so that I can travel one time to Canada.. it makes very tough with quarantine rules as employee..

On other forums it seems that it can be a month from test to "decision made" on ecas and then another month from "decision made" to oath. Highly depends on which office your application is in and how complex it is.

Also, not everyone checks their Ecas every day. And, there is no notification for that. Thus, a decision made estimation could be little overestimated.

Just make sure not to lose your PR status by staying more than 1095 days in Canada within a 5 year period. Another person posted that he stayed 3 years out of Canada and when he arrived they issued a removal order and cancelled his citizenship application. So make sure to always keep your PR status until your oath. And you have to be physically present for both oath and test even though they are online.

Hello, I have submitted my application in Dec 2020, received in Sydney on Jan 2021 and today they have requested for my fingerprints.. Did anyone got the same request in this group ? Also, the process to get it done is not very clear..

Does anyone know what documents are needed for citizenship test and interview?

i have to apply for passport renewal so i won’t have my passport with me for about 2 months. I am worried that if i get test and interview invite during this period, it might be problematic for me as i won’t have my passport with me.

Asking again here as I figured more people might have gone through test and interview in this thread as compared to others.
