Please I need a help, I'd apply for a Work Permit, since last year during the pandemic that they told me that my LMIA as been apply. And I've been waiting since then I only been told that there's a huge volume of application and that I need to wait for my employer and tr Government to process it. But my problem is, how long would i still continue to wait before they issue the LMIA?

Oh no, when did your employer apply and did you get a LMIA number. I hope you didn’t pay anyone for LMIA, and are you in Canada or Outland. If you are Outland there could be actual delay. My employer applied for mine in October 20th 2020, it got approved in October 23rd 2020. Low wage LMIA. It doesn’t take that much time anymore. Applied for my work permit same day and got an approval December 31st 2020. All inland.

- When did you apply for the work permit? What date exactly?
- Where are you living? What country?
- What kind of work permit is this? Skilled worker? Caregiver? Something else?

That's a long time to be waiting for an LMIA approval, even now.

As long as you haven't paid the agent any money or fees - and as long as you're sure this job is real, then there's really nothing you can do but wait.

If you are Outland there could be a delay, but if they could process low wage in 3 days, then I don’t think it should be this long for high wage.
can you share the job offer, because a lot people here don’t even have jobs yet. Just saying

I think probably it's a scam too. It's already been a year, and you don't know anything from the LMIA. I suggest you try to contact somebody else than your agent, just to check. I got an LMIA approved in 2 months, it was high wage back in October-2020, and I already applied for a work permit, just try to check if your application is really on process.

Also, I don't think any company would be waiting over a year for somebody to go to work there, probably they already hire somebody else and they are just giving you false hope.

A year is a very long time for an LMIA - even right now. The employer should inquire why processing is taking so long. This would normally indicate there is a problem with the application. This isn't normal.

my high wage LMIA took 3 weeks in December after about 6 weeks of advertising the vacancy on Job bank etc. There is no way this sounds like it is not a scam. Did they ask you to pay for the LMIA?
