Hi all,

There's a good chance this might have been answered before but couldn't find it in the last 10 pages so here we go.

My wife and I are applying for her PCC (India) from Toronto so that I (PR holder) can sponsor her PR. I wanted to confirm the documents that need to be brought to the office or sent via mail. We tried calling BLS, but what they were suggesting on the phone is a bit different from their application checklist. We would really appreciate your help.
From the checklist, we understood we need the following documents -
  • Application form filled on the embassy website
  • Photograph (Only 1) 51x51 [Toronto needs only 1 I guess]
  • Passport - Wife - Original (required?) + Photocopies of all non-blank pages (on letter pages)
  • Passport - Husband - Original (required?)
  • My PR Card (original or photocopies?)
  • Marriage certificate
  • Wife's address proof - what can I attach for that as she's here on a visitor visa?
  • Do we need a change of appearance form?
  • Are we missing any documents or any minute details that we need to be aware of such as self-attestation etc?
Also, can we apply this in person, or these days they are only accepting mail-in applications? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Best,
Rk

We tried calling BLS, but what they were suggesting on the phone is a bit different from their application checklist. We would really appreciate your help.
From the checklist, we understood we need the following documents -
  • Application form filled on the embassy website. Correct
  • Photograph (Only 1) 51x51 [Toronto needs only 1 I guess] Correct
  • Passport - Wife - Original (required?) + Photocopies of all non-blank pages (on letter pages)- Original Not Needed. Only Passport first and last pages along with any stamped pages.
  • Passport - Husband - Original (required?)Original Not Needed. Only Passport first and last pages along with any stamped pages.
  • My PR Card (original or photocopies?)Original Not Needed. only xerox.
  • Marriage certificate - Yes. Xerox copy
  • Wife's address proof - what can I attach for that as she's here on a visitor visa?- You can write an LOE(Letter of Explanation about your wife stay is same as your address)
  • Do we need a change of appearance form? I don't think so. This is mostly applicable if the person is completed look differently(most of the cases, this one applicable to kids)
  • Are we missing any documents or any minute details that we need to be aware of such as self-attestation etc? No self-attestation Needed.
Along with the above, Make sure to attach address proof of India where you want to verify the police clearance. Attach your wife's visa copy and visitor copy page.

Also, can we apply this in person, or these days they are only accepting mail-in applications? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Only Mail-in Applications. You can opt-in pick-up and delivery options.

Best,
Rk

Please see my response according to my experience. Hope this helps. As you are the PR holder, I guess we might need your help in applying for PR. Please share your experience and tips on the documentation part so that many of the members will be benifited.

1. Purolator pickup 19th Jan 2021
2. BLS acknowledgement 27th Jan 2021
3. Police Verification Report (PCC initiated) 4th Feb 2021
4. Waiting for verification to be done (haven't been contacted by cops) already about 8 days

PVR was done at same address 4-5 yrs back which happened quite fast (was done in 2 days) wondering what's different now.

You should send someone to the police station and enquire, if they are busy they may unnecessarily delay it.

Hi,

I have submitted the online application in Passport seva website on January 20th,2021

I haven't sent my documents to BLS yet

Will there be any issue if I submit the application after one month?

Application sent by purolator: Jan 08
Acknowledgment BLS: Jan 12
ADR BLS: Jan 14
BLS Accepted: Jan 27, After several phone calls and emails.
BLS Tracking system: Feb 02 Application Reference Number CANTXXXXXXX, and it says "Processing at Consulate General"
Nothing since then. Not a single email from the consulate whatsoever.

Any idea how long it would take? what else to do? I am a foreign passport holder btw.
Thanks a lot!

Check your country's embassy site for passport services. If it is India, check this one.

Mine took less than 4 weeks and I received it last week. It all depends on how long it takes to be completed in India at the police station. As soon as you are notified that police verification has been initiated, approach the designated police station. It will speed up things.
