Application returned for not having most recent NOA

We sent in the application to sponsor my common law partner in Feb/March of 2020 when my 2019 taxes weren't complete. We just got it returned in the mail today for the reason of not having the most recent Notice of Assessment with line 150. When we applied I used my 2018 taxes as they were most recent at the time. Now am I supposed to include my 2019 or 2020 taxes when sending it back?

Is it because they took so long to look at the application my most recent taxes were out of date or is it possible that they missed the print outs of my taxes in the application supported documents?

Also on that note do I have to update any of the other forms in the application because of the change in dates?

Did you include a 2018 NOA?

Yes, you have to check to see if any other form has changed. And if any documents (police clearance certificate) have expired.

It's odd that it took nearly 12 months to do a completeness check.

I've also recently submitted an application in January, but don't have the latest tax assessment. I suspected this would be an issue.
Will send the latest paper as soon as I get it.
Sorry to have to go through the walkaround. It's not your fault.

Yes I included the 2018 NOA when sending it in. Hence my confusion.

I also just assumed the delay was because of COVID but it still seems excessive.

So would sending it now with my 2019 NOA be enough or would I need to file my taxes right now and then send in my 2020? Just trying to figure out the correct next steps.

Call them to have a prospective number, then update your file as soon as you have the new NOA.

This isn't possible if they actually returned the file, which I read to have happened.

Did they return your application to you with a cover sheet highlighting why they rejected the package?

Yeah like I explained in more detail in my original post they said it was returned because of not having my latest NOA with Line 150, which I did include. So I'm confused on what the issue could be.

Unfortunately, for some reason your application failed completeness check. Maybe it shouldn't have, but it did, and it's not possible to "undo" this. You need a new, most recent NOA and need to resubmit. It's frustrating and concerning because we're back in the same time of the year - you won't have a 2020 NOA yet.

Is there a specific number to call? And what do you mean by "prospective number"?
My response was not for you since your package was returned.
Did they give you a prospective number (temp. number) before or you didn't have any news (update) about your file until it was returned?

Sorry to hear that. So if I were you, I would wait for the new NOA even if it is going to take about 2 months to get it and reapply afterwards.

Question:
Did they give you a prospective number (temp. number) before ? or you didn't have any news (update) about your file until it was returned after almost 12 months?

Thank you,

As k.h.p. replied, there is NO application or temp number if the application is returned. It's as if they've never received it.
It's unusual that took 12 months for them to check the completeness of a package and return it. But as we can see here, it could happen.
