I had applied for an extension of my 6 month stay as an American visiting Canada in July. I did this to continue working on my pilots license. I just received my letter of refusal in Feb which renders me immediately without status. I understand that there is a 90 day grace period where I may apply for restoration of my status. My question is, does it matter how quickly I apply for restoration during this 90 day grace period. Does each day count against me as without status? Especially if i'm trying to apply for a student visa in the future?

I need to stay for at least 2 more weeks in order to finish my Pilot License. Is my best option to apply for restoration and hope the processing time takes long enough to finish my pilot license?

You're not under a study permit already? That seems odd...

If your plan is to return in the future, apply to restore your status now. Don't play games and wait. You want to make it look like you took immediate action to fix your status in Canada.

What are you actually doing to complete your pilot's license? That often requires a study permit.
