Hi,
I had applied for family sponsorship of my parents under PGP2019 program.
Unfortunately, a month ago my father passed away.
I need to have my mom here ASAP. She is in India.
Since immigration process may take a while; I am planning to apply for a visa.
She already has done biometrics as part of PGP2019 and also her medicals are valid till end of this month (done last feb).
As of today, processing time for a visitor visa shows 154 days ... and for supervisa shows 337 days.
My question is - since my mom has biometrics done - are these timeframes still valid? Or they could be greatly reduced?
Thoughts on which visa type to apply for?

Thanks.

Very sorry for your loss.
Per the website to check processing times;
This processing time doesn’t include:

  • the time it takes to send an application between a VAC and our office
  • the time you need to give your biometrics
I would go for Visitor as it does not require medical(that expires soon and may be my mother is asked for another one if I file Supervisa file) and the processing time is half.

Hi,

1. When applying for a visitor's visa; the officer looks at ties to India. I will need to mention that my mom has applied for PR under PGP19. Does this cause any issues with visitor visa? Does this weaken her case for visitor visa as her intent is to get PR?
2. How do I convey that while she is waiting for her PR: she will be returning to India once the 6 months for TRV is over?

Thanks.
