Hey guys,

Currently, when one gets COPR, they have to make an appointment at IRCC office, correct? The website says IRCC will call COPR holders who are in Canada for their appointment. Please is this true? I need to get this done asap as I have 8 months left on my international passport, and I dont have a signed COPR document for which I can use in getting a new PR SIN as they didnt send that. Please help @legalfalcon and anyone else who has insights.

Thanks!

Thank you so much for the information man..! Much appreciate it. I do agree with the timelines, but off recently I’ve come across other threads wherein people who’ve submitted their application in Sept 2020 have received PPR. That was quite a shock to read. Anyways I’m happy for the person who has received it though. Just one last thing bro, could you please tell me how should I go about if at all I happen to miss the deadline for the submission of passport? Webform? Or is there any other means as well.

If you miss the deadline to submit the passport, send a webform or email to IRCC and inform them that you will not be able to submit the passport within the stipulated 30 days and need extra time and explain the circumstances.

That is all. One you are able to, send the passport. If IRCC needs any additional documents, such as re-meds, they will let you know.

I have requested GCMS since Dec 11th but I have not gotten any response. I filled out a web form asking specific questions about my eligibility; when I did not get a response after 2 weeks so I called IRCC and the agent told me they have not started my application after 7months, 2 days later, reply from webform stated:

Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
We thank you for your patience and understanding regarding the delay for answering your enquiry due to the ongoing situation related to COVID-19.
Our system indicates that you contacted the Client Support Centre via telephone after sending this email enquiry and we are happy to see you had the chance to get your enquiry answered. If you have outstanding questions following that telephone conversation, we invite you to write to us using the IRCC Web form.
We invite you to consult regularly the How the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is affecting immigration, refugees, citizenship and passport services page for the latest updates.
We thank you for your patience during this difficult time.
Furthermore, please note that there are two ways you can check your application status online. You can verify the status of your application:

What do you think may be happening, bearing in mind that it is well over 7months of AOR and nothing is happening?

@legalfalcon please.

It is very unlikely that there has been no progress in your application. Even if they have not done the eligibility, your application would have gone though R10, criminality and medicals at least by now.

When you spoke on the phone and they informed you that they haven't started working on your application, or was it that they have not started working on eligibility?

Congratulations!!

If you are not in Canada, you will have to send your passport. Only for applicants who are inland, IRCC sends the COPR by mail, which is already signed and stamped an effective the date on your COPR you become a landed immigrant, this is done after the landing interview, or after PR confirmation portal.

Thanks for your reply! I am in Canada. My lawyer sent me the screenshot and he said there was no document (that IRCC no longer sends that due to COVID for now). How long does it usually take for them to send me the appointment booking invite? I have just 8 months left on my passport validity and is there any way I can get a new SIN before the landing interview? I ask because i am currently on a study permit and needed to extend it by a month to cover my program length. With my PR, I wont need to extend anymore, thats why I am asking. Please, help, @legalfalcon :)

Hi guys,
I just received a ghost update and per call, to IRCC I found out that my security completed today.
It took about one month for security which I guess is reasonable however, I believe from this point on I joined the club of "everything passed but no change".

based on what I read here it might take another 2 to 4 weeks for an officer to pick up the file and give it final approval and then it might take another two to four weeks for them to decide whether to send direct COPR or portal information. Let me know if I am wrong? Hopefully, I don't get portal information as I heard terrible stories from people being stuck in the new PR portal phase.

AOR June 24
Security completed: 22 Dec to 1 Feb

I have been on everything passed for 6 weeks, rang today and still no movement to approval. I have seen people go from everything passed to COPR in 4 weeks, thought i’d let you know my timeline just as its slightly longer atm

There will be one of the two options:

1. Landing interview: IRCC will schedule an interview and then send the COPR by email.

2. PR Confirmation portal: IRCC will ask you to create an account and enter your details. Once done, you will have to wait for COPR by email.

You can only get a Sin after you have are a landed immigrant, and you only become a landed immigrant after you receive a stamped and signed COPR.

Your passport validity has nothing to do as you are already in Canada. If your passport expires, you can get it renewed and send the scan of the biographical pages to IRCC via webform, i.e. only if you do not have a COPR by then, which is very unlikely.
