US green card can take 7-8 years waiting, some people even waited for more than a decade, but nobody complained about it.

The delay of Canada PR is just a few months or at most, 1-2 years, and it's due to the special emergency situation of COVID19. Unfortunately there are so many barking on this forum. I would suggest these people who think that Canada PR doesn't worth waiting for a year or two to move to the US in order to have a better experience of their life :)
Not to derail from the topic here, but it's not about the delay compared to US, it's about the fair treatment of applicants filing PR. If applications filed in Sept onwards are processed but not Jan - April, we can't be smug about it and have to raise this to the awareness of everyone to get some attention.

I mentioned US green card because that guy who I quoted said he/she just moved from the US to Canada. I'm not intending to derail the topic. I also explained this in a previous thread under this topic of why IRCC is taking this so-called "unfair" way.

Which law book says Biometrics comes under completeness check.... We already crossed 9 months after completeness check as per GCMS.. This is called mismanagement and unfair...
Read my words again, I said completeness check happends approximately when you receive your BIL, not saying anything that biometrics come UNDER completeness check.

the key part is unfairness. not about how long to wait.
if everyone has to wait for the equal amount of 10 years, no one will bark a thing here.
I mentioned US green card because that guy who I quoted said he/she just moved from the US to Canada. I'm not intending to derail the topic. And by the way there is sufficient reason for IRCC to do so. It's not unfair.

US release processing time every month on green card backlog, so everyone knows what they are getting into. But IRCC does not publish anything and does not process in order of AOR received, which is very frustrating. I just wish IRCC could be more transparent.

There are so many people including me are waiting for final decision from October/November (all stages are passed, only final decision is pending)..in the meantime plp who submitted applications in August, September are receiving COPR...I am in the front of the line but somebody at back/end of the line grabbing the opportunity..IRCC may be using processing tactics to meet their SLAs but to me its unfair game..its not barking, it's our responsibility to question as residents of Canada..

Hi,

I live in British Columbia since Sept 2019 and currently working on a work permit. I applied for my express entry PR back in early March 2020 (had BC PNP too), and it's almost 11 months since then, but I've still not got the PR. I checked with my company's immigration consultant team, and I get very standard unhelpful responses that the application is in progress and we do not know the expected processing time due to COVID. On further probing them about the status, I found it's in the background verification stage since October. It's more than 3 months in that stage and still not yet completed. I've called the IRCC folks to know more, but it gets disconnected after the automated status with a message that we cannot support the high call volume due to COVID. I also submitted an inquiry request to IRCC via Web form, but it's been a week and not received any response.

I wanted to check if anyone else applied their PR around a similar timeframe and has experienced similar delays? I'm wondering if it is getting delayed for all of the PR applications or if my application is missing something? Checking if folks have any ideas or suggestions to help expedite it?
In Similar situation, AOR March 9th 2020 ans still waiting. Medicals expired in Nov which got extended for another year this month. Calling client support center never help. Web form doesn't help.
Frustrated...

I believe that most applicants of Jan-May 2020 AOR should act together, collect evidence and file a class action lawsuit towards IRCC (after we have received our PR in the future), and we shall request IRCC to pay compensation for our loss of time and pause of life because of their irresponsible management and unfair processing rules.
The compensation itself does not mean much to us, but it's an action to remind all Canadian gov departments that they need to treat all applicants fairly in all time, otherwise someone will be watching them.
If we don't take any serious action after being treated like this, the same thing will happen again & again towards our children and grandchildren in the future (and our parents too if they plan to join you in this country)
Like this post if you are interested in this idea. or provide any feedback if you have related law knowledge/experience. Thanks

btw: I'm currently living in BC, and if I can collect 30 likes in this post, I will contact a lawyer to get some initial information about how to push this through.
awaiting your findings on what the lawyer thinks,.. i think once you initiate the process, many more will join who are also waiting in JAN, FEB and APRIL AOR groups

I believe due to COVID restrictions they are withholding issuing COPR since there is a possibility it will expire and they will have to go through the process of reissuing COPRs again.
Does the status of COPR show ’Not Started’ for u as well ? I read somewhere on the forum that some candidates have ’In queue’ or ‘Generate’

And wonder what that ’Valid to 2021/03/01’ signifies ?

anyway lets hope for the best

Spoke to an agent this morning, no progress yet since August 5, 2020.
AOR: March 05, 2020
BioMetrics: March 12, 2020

Eligibility: Still not started
Criminality: In progress
Security: Not started
VO: Ottawa

Agent had no clue what is happening but said there are thousands of file like yours. Received a GU last month and asked what that meant and he had no answers to that as well.

I think there is no point just thinking about it and making plans according to PR. We should continue doing our work and when the PR comes great.
