Can I change profile information when applying for a new ITA?

Hello everyone,

If I decline an ITA and later get another ITA with changes in profile details (like employment history), will the visa officer compare the info from the previous ITA with the current ITA? Or will he/she assess the PR application solely based on the current ITA's information?

Yes, this is one of the things they do according to a former immigration officer's content i've viewed, they will review the information from previous profiles you've submitted.

It shouldn't be a problem if the information is not conflicting.

do they straight up reject the application, or worse, ban you for misrepresentation without giving a chance to explain the discrepancies? thanks.

This is hard to know.

I will say that if you received an ITA but declined it with a previous profile, they would probably scrutinise your current profile more carefully. As opposed to having a profile before but not receiving an ITA with it.

A lot would depend on the type and scale of the discrepancies, but i think they would use the information provided previously more in the context of assessing the authenticity of your current application. It would not necessarily disqualify you on the basis of any false information provided in a previous profile because you didn't accept the ITA and submit your eAPR.

If the discrepancies ultimately demonstrate that your current profile is truthful, i don't think there would be any sanctions. If it called into question information you provided in your current profile you would most likely receive a procedural fairness letter, which you would then be given a chance to response to which details their doubts on your application.

thank you so much for the detailed explanation. TBH, the main reason I am in this mess is because I was fast approaching my 30th birthday and hastily made my EE profile to catch the final draw (got my IELTS certificate few hours before the draw, yeah). As my employment history is spread across several firms, so I just made one entry with one firm to cover the entire period and thought of fixing them later in the APR stage.

Then I learned in a forum that the information provided at the time of ITA must not conflict against the info provided for APR. Thus, the mess. Sigh.
