Hi all.. I did my BBA-IT (Hons) 16 years education back in 2007 and total experience of about 12 years in HR with various organisation plus international HR certifications. MY IELTS score 7 band.. From past 2 years I am running my own schoool and college. I have a wife and 1 kid of about 7 months. I now want to have a masters degree from Canada and return back after its completed. Do I have a chance of getting a study visa beacause I think my gap of 13 years will be an obstacle in getting a visa from Canadian embassy in Pakistan? What do you guys suggest?

Thanks in advance.

Who knows if you will be approved. Focus on getting admission to a masters program and then apply for a study permit. A 13 year gap can be overcome. You say you will return to your country so you need to detail why spending thousands on a Canadian education will help your career back home. Have you ever applied for PR.

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply Naturgrl.. My main aim for studying in Canada is to gain internaional exposure, to observe their education system and to replicate some of the beneficial points in my school too. Isn't this a valid reason to study in Canada? I have a family here in Pakistan and good assets too. I will definetly come back after 2 years study because there is no one to permanently look after them.
Regarding PR i applied for federal skilled program back in Dec 2014. My file was approved but the embassy fee was not deducted due to some issue in my credit card. By the time i knew about it was too late and my file was returned and only reason they said was credit card payment declined".At that time i was single but now i am married with a family and my work is going good so i want to return after my studies are completed. In canada i will start from a scratch and its not feasible for me.

So , is there any chance for me getting a student visa bcoz iam 37 years old now and gap. but my gap was not empty. i worked in it. I contacted universities by my wn and they will give admission to me. but iam worried about embassy granting me visa. if i can show them my strong ties here in pakistan and that i ll come back then will they offer me study visa or not? any good chance or low chances?

Worry about the study permit when you have an offer for a masters degree
hmmm.. i sent my documents to some canadian universities and i have a good chance to get admission keeping in view my IELTS score and educational back ground and work experience. but i am worried if embassy in pakistan will grant me a visa for study because of study gap and my age?

Your file will most likely be with AUH VO. They are known for rejections especially for mature candidates.

What Masters programs are you applying to? Don’t apply to private universities (Canada West, Northwestern, Royal Roads) but apply to public colleges.

I think you have good chances to get the visa. You have good ties to home country(business that you need to get back to). You just need to explain the reasons for study properly and show good finances.

yeah i am applying to public universities like uni of ottwa, regina etc. Preferred courses are MBA Finance or HRM.

Thanks a lot dear for your positive reply. thats what iam think that there are many genuine students out there and there should not be an age limit for studies. I will definetly come back to run my school and college and i am paying around 300000 $ fee and some 10000$ in my account for my expenses.
