Would add that this family seems have gotten lucky but the majority of IRCC agents do not consider pregnancy to fall under compassionate visas. This is really for emergency situations like funerals, sudden health issues, imminent death, etc. Others may also get lucky as well but it should not be expected since there are many other parents who have been denied TRVs or been told that this isn't considered an urgent request.

Agree with all the points here. However, I think the perception of care required during pregnancy is subjective. IRCC does consider that as a valid reason for an exemption for travel under compassionate grounds. This is part of one of the replies I received from IRCC.

Foreign nationals seeking an exemption from the travel restrictions on compassionate grounds will be required to submit a request to the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) to receive authorization for one of the following reasons:
  • to attend to the death of, or provide support to, a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, temporary resident, or protected person who is residing in Canada and who is deemed to be critically ill by a health-care professional entitled under the laws of a province to provide health services in the province
  • to provide care for a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, temporary resident, or protected person residing in Canada who is deemed by a health-care professional entitled under the laws of a province to provide health services in the province to have a medical reason as to why they require support (for example, assisting in a birth, providing elder care, supporting someone during pregnancy)
  • to attend a funeral or end of life ceremony of a person who resided in Canada

@dsinghd : Yes I followed the PHAC route. My parents biometric was done in March before the VAC closure.

1. No stamp in the passport even at the entry to to Canada but TRV letter says 90 days
2. I booked tickets after getting visa

So, can we apply for Super visa and have doctor fill out PHAC, will that work? My wife is pregnant and will require some support during her pregnancy. I believe we still have to do biometric even if you get PHAC, correct? Where do you submit PHAC form?

Got my mother visitor visa approved for 3 months. Thank you @sb0821 for introducing PHAC Letter information to ppl like us who were hopeless to get the parent visa results so soon.

Biometrics completed: Nov 09 2020 (Dubai)

PHAC Letter Approval: Dec 12 2020
CIC itenary request : Dec 14 2020

Passport pick up from vfs: Dec 22 2020
Passport received by ircc : Dec 24 2020
Passport Despatched : Dec 29 2020
Visa approved stamped For 3 months,Single entry.

I received itinerary request from CIC today. Should i go ahead book flight first beacuse they need the actual dates, flight details etc. As they will be included on visa letter. @sb0821 You said you booked tickets after getting visa. Were you able to book exact same flight afterwards which you gave CIC when they requested itinerary?
My concern is that I cannot provide random flight details to them right ? And later travel on a different flight/day ?

Congratulations. You are the only case so far where they requested passport while others got the visa in form of a letter. I'm talking about only PHAC cases. I know usually passport is requested for stamping the visa.

@dsinghd : We thought we might get get visa like in normal days we got till the passport valid or more or less for atleast 6 months visa. But its same for 3 months .. we don't know why did they ask for stamping.. but we are glad everything went on time bcz we booked the itenary from 6 Jan.

Folks , This will really surprise me !! My friend has got Visitor Visa with 20 days without PHAC letter ..

Timeline for Application ....

Application submitted: December 7th 2020
Biometrics requested: December 8th 2020
Biometrics completed: December 17th (Dubai)
Passport Request: Dec 31st 2020

I do have a question , How to submit passport in Ahmedabad , Gujarat ( Walk in or courier ) ?

I appreciated :)
