Submitted application, visitor status expiring

Hey all!

We submitted our common-law sponsorship application last month, and my partner's visitor visa expires early January. My question is does she need to apply for an extension on her status?

Since submission, we only received an email regarding biometrics fee (which was already paid upfront). Other than that we received no other confirmation or anything.

I'm kind of in the dark regarding the application, but if my partner needs to apply for an extension we want to do so asap.
