How to report illegal immigrants in Edmonton canada? My father is staying there with his mistress and he doesn't have a permanent residence paper

sorry for your situation. How do you know he is here illegally. If he is here on a visitor visa, he is not. There is nothing you can really do. Once reported you will not be given any more information or kept informed if they even follow up. Are you even in Canada?

When people are committing a crime are doing something illegally there is nothing wrong with going to authorities as long as you have well founded concerns or proof. We don't know anything about this situation but your general advice can also have negative side effects. If someone was neglecting their child or elderly parent would you say don't get involved? What if you knew there was domestic abuse going on in the home? People should get involved as long as their safety is not at risk but people need to be able to live with the potential consequences of their actions. Assume there may be issues other than just their immigration status so I would suggest they try discussing any non-immigration issues and perhaps bring up their lack of status and discuss and the steps they may be able to take to try to legalize their status. Bringing up longterm issues like access to healthcare with Covid that would be the perfect reason to start talking about the issue.

I realise that my comments might have made it appear to be generalised to other issues, but i'm obviously not talking about instances of abuse, neglect and serious issues like that. I think it's pretty clear in such cases that a person has a moral obligation to speak to the authorities to prevent any further transgressions.

But I have found generally that people who want to denounce others for immigration violations usually have an axe to grind. As OP mentions, the person is a relative and is most likely not on good terms with him. I don't see the need for OP to get involved in such a scenario, unless he's adversely affected in some way or his status is in jeopardy as a result.

That's just my 2 cents on the situation. It's bad karma.
