IEC work/travel visa age limit extension due to covid?

Hi everyone! Any advice on my situation would be very much appreciated.

I was in the process of re applying for my Work/Travel visa when Covid-19 restrictions took place. Being a British citizen, to the best of my knowledge I have up until my 31st birthday to apply for the IEC work/travel visa (I could be wrong about this!) With my 31st birthday fast approaching in December I was wondering if there had been any extensions for applications? Being British and turning 31 on December 16th, is there anyway I will be able to apply for the IEC work/travel visa or am I too late? Any information or alternative options would be greatly appreciated. I applied previously but made an administration error last year rendering my application null and void and I would very much like to live and work in Canada once restrictions allow it.

You need to be selected out of the pool before you turn 31. So you need to be selected before Dec 16. I'm not sure about submitting your full application after being selected and whether you'd also need to complete this step before you turn 31.

IMO it's unlikely they will extend the age.

Thank you for your reply. To the best of my knowledge (anecdotal) as long as the application process begins before turning 31 it'll go through but please don't quote me on that! From what have seen on the website, applications have been paused due to covid and I wondered if once they open up again they would add those months onto peoples deadlines. I.e if since March 2020 you can't apply and it hypothetically opens again in March 2021 - I would have the time between March 2020 and my 31st birthday added onto when it opens in say March 2021. That is just my hope! Or if someone knows if I can still apply just now somehow that would be amazing. I find the website and information on it quite confusing at times...

Can you clarify your exact situation right now? Are you waiting to enter the pool? Or are you in the pool waiting for an invite? Or have you received an invite but can submit your complete application?

Hi, thank you for your reply. My exact situation is that I have to start from scratch all over again. My previous application was rejected due to some missing information that was my fault related to an admin error. In the rejection e-mail they said my application had been unsuccessful but I was welcome to re apply (I was re funded the fee as the application wasnt processed) So pretty much a total beginner.

Ok - so in that case you need to wait until the pool reopens for 2021. The pools are closed now for 2020. There is no way for you to apply now. Given when your birthday falls, I think it's extremely likely you are going to age out before you can be selected and reapply. By all means give it a shot. I would keep your expectations super low and explore other options.

Thanks again for all your help, I've actually had a call from the visa department, very efficient! They have said basically what you have. At the moment there is no plans in place, the future being unpredictable. So best to just to check back in when things open up again and see if there are any new opportunities. Although its not the answer I was hoping for its really good to confirm there is nothing I can do just now. Thank again!
