Has anyone had any luck applying for a TRV?

I had one and it expired in July, we just submitted our outland application early October. We have 2 scenarios :
  1. Planning to go be with my husband in case the application gets returned and then applying inland & OWP
  2. Reunite regardless of the sponsorship status by February 2022 because I haven't seen him since 2018... pretty much since we got married.

I can prove employment ties, family ties, loans, and a tenancy agreement to my home country and the country I currently reside in. I can also prove a very stable and strong financial status. Should I just go ahead and apply for the TRV now?

Also are there any Malaysians in this group? Would be nice to connect.

Thank you!

If you held a TRV before this generally increases your chance of approval the second time around. I would go ahead and apply providing proof of ties.

Separately, I think it's not great for your spousal sponsorship application that you haven't seen each other in two years even though you had a valid TRV. I would try to find a way to visit each other as soon as you can. That makes me concerned for your application.

We tried - he was supposed to visit in April but then COVID hit and everything got cancelled. We explained this in the relationship information section and attached all the hotels, flights and activity booking in the application. It was a huge stack!

I really do miss my husband a lot but ugh COVID... hence us applying for the TRV.

I get the COVID bit. But even pre-COVID, you were apart by choice for over a year. That's the part that would worry me. COVID you can explain. Not visiting each other for over a year when there were no such limitations is what would make me worry. Anyway, hope you explained that in your application as well.

Oh boy... hopefully we did. We weren't as financially stable as we are now, and had loans and whatnot. Plus the flight ticket alone would have costs $1.5K. Now for the long wait for AOR or a returned application. Thanks Scylla for your input!

I would apply for the TRV now. The sooner you can have a visit together, the better (IMO). Good luck.
