Hey Guys, I'm from India and applied for the visa under SDS category on 15th Oct (DLI already has approved readiness plan in place). I am considering to travel to Dubai to submit my biometrics since that is the only formality pending from my end. Just wanted to check if I give the biometrics in Dubai, will I have to submit my passport for visa stamp issuance in Dubai or India? I'm a little confused here and would appreciate if you could help.

Yeah I recently saw that and am glad things are opening up.

Although in order to travel to Dubai, I would require their visitor visa which would take an additional 8 days to procure. I can get that beforehand just incase biometrics operations do not resume here in India provided I would later on need to submit the passport here in India to get the Canadian Visa instead of Dubai. Hence would appreciate if anyone has been through the same situation and help in confirming the same.

You are better off waiting for visa offices opening in India Unless you are really desperate you can travel to The Emirates but it's going to be a hassle for you. You would require to present a recent negative covid test before the travel date (1-3 days old) then if you were allowed to travel to The Emirates you will have to quarantine yourself for 14 days. On the other hand, the VFS office is practically empty so biometrics shouldn't take that long. I walked in and walked out of there quicker than I could find parking!

It is not about VFS being empty, they are empty since they are CLOSED.

We have no idea when the biometric service would get resumed. Also I'll have to quarantine only for 1 day in Dubai and can roam freely once the report is negative (would have to do an additional test at the airport itself).

I'm too planning to do the same...
I have paid my entire 1 yr tuition fees and gic.. I had filed my visa application on 21st oct and I got a mail from them to submit my biometric....
I'm planning to visit dubai on 1st of Nov ... But I'm not sure about 14days rule in there
You need to have -ve rc pcr test report atleast 96 hrs before the journey and additionally 2000 dirhams in cash to enter into dubai. Apart from this 14 days quarantine rule only applies to those who are found to be +ve at the airport.

That is absolutely correct.

No issues if found negative. Additionally we might have to get another test done since we would have to show that once we enter India again.

I was talking about the VFS office in Dubai
As for the 1-day quarantine rule, I would take that lightly because rules change frequently, and many people that I have known were told different instructions when they arrived. Whatever you decide good luck

I advice you to wait a little longer, The VACs might open up. If suppose, you do end up getting a positive result in your Covid test, You've got to quarantine for 14days. We've waited this long, few weeks is nothing.

You are totally right about that, if can wait for more than 6months for vfs to open up in India, waiting till nov1st week is a good thing and saves a lot of unnecessary expense for doing it abroad.

If people from India really want to travel somewhere for biometrics, Belgrade, Serbia is the best to do so. No negative test, no quarantine required, No visa required.

One can definitely go to another country to give their biometrics, but in the recent webinar, IRCC officials specifically mentioned that doing so will not expedite their decisions. So I think the best bet would be to wait until VACs open in India.

100% correct. because 1000's of full applications are also just waiting for 6 months. so no difference it will make.
