PS means paper screening. This refers to the security stage where your application details pertaining to security are transmitted to the security agencies, i.e. CSIS and CBSA. It is referred to as Paper Screening as CSIS generates paper reports for each security screening it does, which is the overview of your address history, travel history, education, and work.

If your eligibility is passed, you need not worry, as security will be processed at its own pace and no input from you is required. To read on how security is done, and the security screening manual, see

Everything looks good. This note is just to inform the officer during is final review of the aspects of the application.

Criminality is usually based on PCCs, if one of your PCC is missing, he officer will make a final determination in it. Also, if your biometrics is missing, that is another reason for the criminality to be in progress.

I see no concerns. Just wait for the Officer's assessment.
@legalfalcon
Hello, Please if you can advise me about the below notes. My application will complete 13 months after tomorrow.
My GCMS Notes which was Ordered and received in August 2020 showed a note about my MED AS VU 23 sep Which I assume it means valid until 23 sep while my MED has been passed on 16 October 2019 and on 21 sep 2020 I found a GU And when I checked my account my medical status changed from passed to we don’t need status.
Since then nothing happened (One month) no redo request or extension update. I am confused what shall I do.
AOR 22 sep CEC INLAND
And as a reminder my application was in progress for criminality in progress due to Saudi PCC which is not required based on IRCC rule and I didn’t provide it as we discussed before.

Your medicals may have been extended. So you need not worry about that. Send a webform and enquire.

The medicals is not an issue as most applicants who will have then medicals expired will see that they are extended, and the GU you received could be due to that.

from point 3 I was asking that if a person was on designation X and Y but both are of same NOC, So in work history does breakdown is necessary or you can just put the current designation for whole period.

I don't keep a tab on the stats and VOs. All I believe in is that immigration is law, and everything else is just speculation and an opinion.

As long as your application is progressing, you need not worry. In one of my old posts, re-posted here, I have provided my opinion on why you should not compare time lines. All applications are distributed to different VOs based on work load distribution and irrespective of where your application is at, as long as its moving, that is all that matters. However, like the sheep mentality a lot of people compare timelines and VOs, and if you search there is a lot of info on that.

You should never compare timelines during the immigration process
An immigration application is a complex one, with many variables. No two applicants are the same, even if they may have the same date of birth, similar profiles, and may come from the same country.

Since you have filed your application, you must be aware that many questions are asked on the application, which then have to be supported by documents. This is what makes each application unique, and so does the processing of such applications.

With so many variables, when you compare your application timelines with another applicant, you are comparing apples to oranges. Please remember, immigration is law, and as any lawyer will tell you, no two cases are ever the same.

I have always emphasized and reiterated, instead of being obsessed with timeless, follow the progress by tracking the stages of your application.

R10 (completeness check)
Medicals
Criminality
Eligibility
Security
See https://bit.ly/2TaJrTV

The uniqueness of each application does not stop here, the processing and evaluation of each application are done by humans, who have their own unique personality and way of analyzing. Even though each immigration officer is obligated to follow the law as stipulated in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, the Regulations, and the manuals, by their speed, way they analyze, and their drive, are factors, which again add more variables.

Also, IRCC has many visa offices where applications are processed. Each visa office has different priorities, workloads, and individuals, that once again adds to more variables.

Even when your documents have been evaluated, there is this whole animal of security that has to be done. While, IRCC, CBSA and CSIS do not disclose how security screening is done, but general guidelines, open source searches, inter country info sharing, INTERPOL databases etc all taken into account. This is not a mechanical task, but has to be carefully evaluated, and can take time. Sometimes months. Imagine IRCC allowing a person with known terrorist affiliation become a PR, putting all Canadians, including you at risk. see https://bit.ly/3jnX25i

In conclusion, most applications are processed within 6 months or less, and the 6 months processing time starts when your application is assessed as complete (R10). However, this has not increased to 8-9 months as per IRCC's 2019 annual report.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/corporate/publications-manuals/annual-report-parliament-immigration-2019.html

Don't be disheartened and stress yourself. If you have filed all your documents, and you meet the criteria, your application will be approved. Just don't stress yourself out. Lead your life as normal, do things that you love and spend time with your family. After you move to Canada, another rat race is waiting for you.

If you worked for the same employer, you can either list your designations in different entires in the form, or list them together and get just one work reference letter, it does not matter.

Do what you feel is convenient.

Hi legalfalcon,

Need your advise.

I have an expired copr issued before 18th march. My VO is new delhi and I was not able to travel due to an error on my Copr. They incorrectly printed female on my copr.

Its been 7 months and raised many webforms and emails with a standard reply stating that the copr needs to be submitted with the passport and new photos for correction using passport transmission service only. Unfortunately, the VACs are closed hence nothing moving forward.

My representative says my application shows in progress currently as a result of the webfroms raised.

My challenge is-

1) I dont have GCKey account

2) All emails go to my representative.

My representative has taken a back seat and says his job is over has i have the copr printed, regardless if it still needs a correction! I am unsure if he is getting any correspondence from ircc for my application that I am not aware of...

Q 1) Is there a way I can not be dependent on him by linking the application to a new gc key?

Q 2) Is there a way I can change email communication correspondence address?

Q 3) How many days might it take to reflect the above?

I am very troubled as its been a long wait... I don't want to miss anything during the transition.

1. Yes, you can create a new GC key and link your application to your new account. see https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/account/link-paper-online.html <this process is for a paper based application, for the online application, you will just have to search for your application and transfer it.>

2. Once you have your application in your new GC Key, you can send a webform to change the email address on file. You will also have to cancel your representative. see https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigration-citizenship-representative/change-cancel.html

3. It usually takes 1-2 business days.

Also, instead of going through this process since your application has already been approved, you can send a webform to change the communication preference.

So you advise instead of linking the application, cancelling representative and updating the communication preference, I simply request for change in communication preference by giving new email by webform?

Yes. You can also try linking, but some applicants have had issues and for other it was a smooth process. You can surely try and that will give you complete control of your application.

Hi LegalFalcon,

I have a question related to travel after dependent open work permit approval.

Once dependent got open work permit approved and stamped, is there any such limitation as she has to enter Canada and get open work permit at port of entry with in X days ?

Or she can travel anytime in future given Primary applicant is staying in Canada ?

Thanks
