Hi,

I just received correspondence from IRCC regarding my citizenship application which was received by IRCC on 8th June.
I am still unsure if others also received similar email ( AOR).

According to the email below its still unclear whether IRCC has accepted my application including supporting docs for further processing as the content of the email is still vague.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"This is to acknowledge receipt of your application for Canadian Citizenship. We will review your application and supporting documents and will contact you if additional information is required.

All citizenship applicants between 18 and 54 years of age on the date they sign their application must meet language and knowledge requirements to become a Canadian citizen. If this includes you, you will need to:
• Demonstrate competence in basic communication in English or French.
• Pass a written or if necessary, an oral test on your knowledge of Canada and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.

The knowledge test is based on the information provided in the official citizenship study guide. It is 20 multiple choice questions and you must get at least 15 correct to pass.
• The study guide is available on the IRCC website at: On the same page, you will find more information on how to prepare for the test.
• If you are receiving this letter by regular mail, a print version of the study guide is enclosed.

When your application has been reviewed and has met basic eligibility, IRCC will send you correspondence to invite you to a knowledge test. It could take a few months before you hear from us."

For those who already got AOR, please advise if they got similar email or not?

Hi Guys, Would AOR include all the names of the family members on the receipt? I mean does it include the names of the applicants also or just a receipt of the application.

Urgent Help!!

Hi all, I have this little messed up situation here. So I sent my citizenship application in late May and it was delivered in the first week of June. Later on, I moved to different address in late August(move wasn't planned at the time I sent my application and my mailing address was my old address). After moving to a new address I realized that if in case my application is returned, then it will go to the old address as my mailing address was my old address. To make sure that I know about the returned application, I requested my previous land lord to inform the new tenant to notify me about any mail that comes to that address for me. I also told them why it's very important for me to know in case the application is returned and also to inform me ASAP. Every other week I would also inquire and ask them if there was any mail for me.

Today that new tenant at my previous apartment told the landlord that they indeed received some mail on 6th October for me. There are really high chances that it was my citizenship application, because I made sure that I changed my address at all other places from where I might receive any kind of mail/letter like banks, CRA etc. Now that really really smart people, regardless of all the instructions I gave them to inform me, gave the mail back to Canada Post. So I understand that Canada Post will send it back to the sender which is CIC in this case :(. Now not sure where it will be going to. Whether it's a case processing center or some other CIC department. What worries me is, if it goes back to the case processing center, then they will consider it as a new application and open after another 3-4 months only to be returned back for many reasons, and I won't be able to determine what's the exact state unless my application was never returned and I receive the AOR sometime soon.

Those new tenant also wouldn't clearly say what kind of mail was it!!?? So I am not able to determine if it was my application or something else!

So can someone confirm - if CIC returns your application then do they send it in different envelope than you initially sent or is it the same envelope? If different envelope then what color and size approx.?

If it was my application then what I can do next? Can I just sent new application? and what about the fees I paid?

Thanks in advance.

I would send a new application with the same receipt with a letter stating everything.

Ask a favour from the tenant to take a picture of the post and send you on whatsapp.
This will save your precious time to travel back to your old address.

The envelope label should say that it's from IRCC and it will be A4 size envelope.

Would it be right to assume at least 2 months for the application to move to ECAS stage after receiving AOR?
No it takes 24 hrs to appear on ECAS. In my case, I received AOR yesterday and it appeared on ECAS today with two lines that we your received application on 8th June and we sent you acknowledgement on 13th Oct.

My application was delivered on June 2nd, I still haven't received my AOR. I'm starting to get really worried now. Any thoughts why is it taking this long? Almost everyone whose application was delivered on June 2nd have received their AOR's.

I'm in the same boat, delivered Jun 2 and no AOR yet. But I'm sure we'll get it soon! There's still people from Jan and Feb who are just now getting AORs. Maybe our apps were given to an officer who is still on older apps.
