Interesting I think age diff should not be an issue at all unless it is huge gap of say 30 -40 years

This has changed even without COVID it was below 100 or so as normal , but with Covid -19 say 20 to 50 guests.

But if you read the article the only case cited with a smaller age gap had two other issues - divorce (implied in a country where this is uncommon but not clear) and the couple met only à few days before the wedding.
Overall easy to read a lot into the discretionary powers but most of the findings seem most of all just common sense.
Size of wedding? Cultures do differ - and there's a different risk with arranged marriages, obviously. Given they accept common law, it's not just size of marriage.
I liken the system to yellow cards in football/soccer - one thing alone not always an issue.
I liked the point that long romantic novels in applications are not helpful - and in some cases actually a detriment.

Canada’s spousal immigration is pretty medieval and the frustration around TRV is for everybody not only spouses.
I can understand your frustration, our country isn’t backward but the spousal immigration system definitely is.

Thanks for the link. Good read. Funny it’s 2020 and they still treat interracial marriages, age difference as serious flags and delay applications. If the French president was from a visa required country he’d have a hard time getting his spouse to Canada under Family class.
You may not find many smiling or laughing faces in Sikh wedding actual ceremony which takes 4 circles around the holy book. They take it a lifetime commitment and I have never seen ppl smiling or laughing in those few minutes. A discipline is maintained in that holy place, couple is supposed to listen seriously what the priest recites and translates. Smiling laughing and joking etc all takes place after this and during reception party and that's where an officer should judge if it is real or fake.

Yeah I’m Sikh and had a Sikh wedding lol. I’m pretty sure most people are not smiling at the gurdwara.
I have attended many such ceremonies. I saw females are so shy! IN older times they even cover their whole faces, how they expect them to start laughing specially when her parents are watching, she would control her emotions and listen to the Priest. It is BIG change in life for both. Officer forgets it is a diff culture, she has a new father(-in-law), mother, sis and all that. However now times are changing. A 300 to 500 guest marriage is genuine? Come on guys, no body can afford 300 guests easily when you pay Rs1200/ head at the reception Hall ; total on this alone 1200x300= Rs 360000 and 500x1200= 600,000 alone on foods! Then comes golden jewelry, drinks , Honeymoon all kind of costs. Only very rich/famous parties may still afford that. And addup Airline tickets costs. On the other hand FAKERs who had more than 300 guests were easily given Visas. AND I know many of such cases.
