There are many threads asking people to share their reasons for applying for canadian PR and preparing to leave everything behind. However, I am sure a lot of us are also risking a lot by applying to Canadian PR and I am interested in learning more about this.

So, except friends and family, what are you willing to sacrifice/leave behind ?

A lot of people that immigrate sacrifice higher wages, higher quality of life, mental health by coming to Canada. It's putting it mildly, but these are just some of the things people give up in return of safety and opportunities for their children/families.

Giving up having your friends and parents near you is also a big one, as well as higher cost of living in Canada.

this is genuinely an interesting question!
what will I be losing?
- THE FOOD (THIS IS A MAJOR THING FOR ME )
- the feeling of familiarity & the sense of belonging
- my comfortable & secure lifestyle
- the culture that I so deeply love (Arab)
- many good & promising business opportunities
- the cheap cost of living in my first world country of residence

Other than that, not much. I don't have any friends I'd be missing when I leave, and I don't have a physical bond with my family either, so nothing will change in the friends & family part of my life.

Watching this thread and interested to read more posts.

The food one is interesting !! but I believe Canada must have all sorts of ethnic food. One of the pros for me was that ! If you want to eat indian, chinese or korean, you'll have plenty of choices. Same if you want to cook at home

Actually I am counting on find this one in Canada! I am hoping that it'll quickly feel like home. I know I am ready and I hope Canada has its arms wide open too !

This is a very important one. Cost of living in my country is also relatively cheap and if you are in a comfortable position it makes it even harder to "leave this behind"

Thanks for your contribution :)

For me as well, this is mainly it !
