12 months is the goal for 80% of applicants during normal times. Some applications still take much longer. There are certain countries that tend to have longer processing times during normal periods. We aren’t in normal times so many will go over the 12 months.

I'd add that you should consider this applies to any misrepresentation (lies or omissions) in the application. Don't try to leave things out or otherwise 'improve' the file; it will make things worse. Just tell the truth.

Outland won't work for us because we don't have any savings and i cant work here in Iraq. If I am in Canada, I can worl and save and find us a place to stay when he comes and I have family there that can help me.

But back in 2016, you said you had university in Iraq because if you don't end up in Canada, you'll at least able to work here in Iraq.

One of the main reasons we want to leave Iraq is because I got a bachelor's degree there but thee are absolutely no job opportunities for majority of graduates. Students graudate and either sit at home or work random jobs day by day. There's no future.

Would really prepare for 1.5-2 years processing given the current backlog and the fact that Iraqi applications tend to go over the 1 year mark. You’ll need to find employment or else you’ll run into the financial issue again. You won’t be able to sponsor if you go on welfare.

Just to add, with an over saturated job market in Canada, particularly in certain fields, this is a common occurrence here too.

You don't have to depend on luck to live and have food to eat. At least when you graduate you can get find a job. At least there are jobs availabe you can at least try. In Iraq, you either pay thousands of dollars to get a job or you wait years and years to be given a job. In Canada you don't work random jobs daily. You work daily yes but at least when you get a job, you can make your life work. You don't have to make it through the day thinking i made five dollars today and have food in my fridge. That's what life is like for 97 percent of people in Iraq. When I want to move to Canada I'm not thinking about how I'm going to live in Iraq or how my husband is living. I think about my son's future where he'll have a education worth his time and where he can build himself a future and a career and a good life. He won't have to worry about wasting his years studying for his degree to be worth nothing in Iraq and worth nothing if he were to leave Iraq. He won't have to worry how to provide for his family and how he's going to build a life for himself. He won't have to worry about being in danger everytime he walks out the door. He will have basic human rights, clean water, electrcity, he'll have good doctors to go to, fresh clean air to breathe. Imagine 55 degrees and no electricity. Imagine dirty water coming through your faucet. Imagine going from doctor to doctor and each doctor doesn't know what's wrong and they'll send you somewhere else. My cousin had cancer and they told her there's nothing we can do for her so stop taking her to all these doctors, she only has a few months and she'll die. They brought her to Canada and three years later, here she is, a five year old child, cured and healthy, nothing wrong with her. You don't know what life in Iraq is not even close, so don't be judging.

In Canada, you will eventually find a job. It won't take years for you to get a job. Maybe it'll be a bit slow because of the job market now i know that, but at least I know that eventually there will be something for me and there will be a future for my son. Read my previous reply.
