TAX 2019 | Need Help | OCI holder | Resident/Non-resident/Deemed Resident status

Hi,
I left Canada Last week of July 2019 as a Canadian citizen (for some family reasons)
Ties with Canada:
No significant ties with Canada.
Secondary ties with Canada:

1. I still have savings bank account in Canada active.
2. 1 AMEX credit CARD.
3. No home and no other property in Canada.
4. Married. No kids. Spouse is also in India and working for Indian Employer.
5. Holds Ontario Driving License.

I am working in India since then with Indian Employer.
Now I am planning to file taxes for year 2019. (as I was working in Canada till July 2019)

My question is based on above information:
Am I non-resident ? Deemed non-Resident ? for filing the taxes.

Hi Yogi, Ian in similar situation. Wondering if you can guide me on how should I go about with taxes?

currently I am working for Canadian Company. due to work from home scenario, I am working from India for Canadian company. My family is with me. We have been living here since March 2020 and my wife is doing MBA from India. We are not comfortable travelling to Canada with our 3 year old daughter due to virus outbreak. However we have not left our apartment in Toronto it is empty and we are still paying rent. Also we have bank accounts and cards with Canadian banks, which we are using. Need help with taxes and tuition fees reimbursement for foreign universities.
Can you share your experience or anyone who can guide us.

Given that you have an apartment, bank accounts and cards in Canada, and given that you have the intention of eventually returning to Canada, you are probably a Canadian resident for tax purposes.

I don't personally have an accountant to recommend (I haven't moved to Canada yet), but perhaps others can chime in.

Unfortunately I do not have good news, you are most likely a resident for tax purposes due to the fact that you maintained a permanent home in Canada. You also most likely don't qualify for tuition fee credit as I don't think any Indian University is recognized by CRA. I would recommend contacting CRA to confirm both.
