AOR's, Medical/Biometric requests, anything?
Nope, the portion of NS where Sydney is hasn't had an active COVID case in THREE months and has only had 57 TOTAL. This is honestly ridiculous now. I haven't heard anything since I got AOR in mid-March.

Maybe they think they can catch Covid from a foreign envelope?

I wish they would just let us know what is their plan or when they are planning to move things along. If it's not because of covid, whats the matter?

Most federal government workers were assigned roles outside of their normal duties to help Canadians as part of COVID-19 responses; folks in Sydney NS may have been sent to work on the Canada Emergency Response Benefit or the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy, for example.

Thats completely acceptable. But if thats the case, they could leave at least some worker behind to deal with the backlog.

There are 7,000 spousal and family class applications submitted each month. How on earth is one worker expected to handle that many?

I wanted to write "some workers". I just find that leaving everything in standby is not the best solution.

I appreciate your concern, and I understand it, as we waited 8 months for a permit that is normally issued in 3, but how do you determine what government priorities are appropriate to staff and how in the context of COVID-19?

I'd love it if they didn't have to pause any IRCC work. But someone had to make decisions, that we all disagree with, somewhere, based on government priorities.

Why leave just "some" workers? How much of a delay does leaving only "some" workers have? Does it create a 5, 6, 8 month delay? Is that enough of "things moving"? Or is it enough workers to only have a 2-month delay? At that point, why not just all the workers? Who would otherwise be helping with emergency measures?

I don't know how you determinate government priorities. And I wouldn't want to be the person who has to make those decisions.
100% agree that Covid and emergency mesures are a priority right now but that doesn't mean other things should be completely forgotten. Especially when they have people working on other emigration streams. But again, just my opinion.

covid doesn't survive on surfaces that long, only a few hours. I honestly don't know what they are waiting for.
I think they dont care how long Covid lives on surfaces, they consider all envelopes have the Cooties and they wont touch them barring full hazmat suits.

Can you imagine what it would be like if you had serious concerns about COVID and your work, and people were saying things like this about you? I get the humour, but come on.

Yeah I get it, dont worry ircc isnt reading this...ok so if for argument sake its true and they have serious safety concerns about handling paper apps, why continue accepting them? I mean paper 7000 apps per month, that pile is huge by now....can you imagine what that must look like?
Why not just announce to stop sending paper apps until digital system is online
