Hey Buddy!

I have tried all ways and means to convince university but they are denying to provide such letter considering online classes.

Even, I have tried to put up timezone and internet issues with them but they informed me that these issues need to be discussed with CBSA.

But, the question of putting up such reasoning comes only when we are allowed to board the flight and land in Canada, which seems impossible at this point of time.
Universities can't provide if the classes are online because they have to mention if student has online or on campus classes like labs so even if they provide letter mentioning online course its value will be nothing.
but some are getting these letters but only those who were having online classes in May intake.

even if one CBSA personnel says you can travel, Boarding plane will still be difficult as airlines started to ask support letters.
and you don't know that CBSA personnel you will meet when you enter Canada so it varies on CBSA personnels,
some of them deny and some allow and we can't argue with them about this.

Do you guys know if any first-timer international student (non-US), taking only online classes in the Fall, has succeeded in going to Canada?

Guys I called CBSA 3 times.

Different people picked up. I asked about this essential reason & whether time zone & internet issues would be considered.

One person just said it's essential if I have a physical study permit already. I don't have that. I said I only have Letter of Introduction.

The other two asked whether I have face-to-face classes or online classes.

They said it's not essential if it's online :(

This is so depressing.

Even if I get that letter from University, I doubt whether Air India will allow me to board. I heard that they're denying boarding even to those with support letter from the institute.

Instead, Air India is now asking for a letter from Canadian High Commission in Delhi to allow boarding. I've been seeing this requirement mentioned on twitter.

I heard that some students from Vietnam with fully online classes for the fall were allowed entry. They were 1st time travellers. I read that in this forum only.

Plus another Pakistani student posted that he also went into Canada with fully online classes, despite being a 1st time traveller.

I'm not sure about the authenticity but also heard a few Indian students (1st time with fully online) managed to board Air India & then were allowed into Canada.

These leakages just keep happening. The problem is CBSA is NOT following the rule. If online is non-essential, then why are they allowing people with fully online classes to enter? Either don't allow anyone at all, or just allow everybody.

Why this partiality & unnecessary essential - non essential nonsense? We keep hearing that students (1st time & fully online) are being let in. Now those who are unfortunate enough to be denied boarding by Air India, are the ones losing out. I too will lose out on co-op opportunities if I can't go for September.

Unfortunately, Indian students specifically are being held back by Air India which is the only airline we can take. They aren't allowing us to get inside any other airline. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

And Air India is asking for all sorts of support letters which is impossible to get.

Atleast people with online classes are not free at home. our time is wasted as deferring to sept and then to jan is very difficult.
I understand it's a very difficult time for all of us facing so many different uncertainties during this challenging time.

I only hope all of us get out of this soon.

I totally agree.

Same with my University. They just don't understand. They are just saying you can complete the course requirements remotely & your presence is not required lol :(

I can't even try to board without thus letter, right?

Buddy, what I understand is that it is about taking chances only. I have not heard that any international student with GIC is deported back from Canada. So, if we can crack AI somehow then probability of entering Canada is very high.
