Hello,

I got my LMIA approved a few weeks back and I am planning to get my WP from a PoE as the online application would take more than 4 months to give me a decision. (going from US).
In this case what would you guys recommend, apply online and wait for WP or get it done from PoE?

Also, I hope to find someone in the same boat as mine through this.

Thank you.

This is wrong thread to ask as many of us not having much knowledge to guide correctly. Refer here or ask in "Foreign Workers" section https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/port-of-entry.695932/

I have a valid Visitor's Visa. Not sure if that comes under TRV.
Sorry am new to this immigration stuff.
I think that you need to apply for your work permit online as port wont help as per that thread. Ask more in that thread. Why are you not asking your employer as this is not like a PR visa for which you are doing it alone which needs assistance and you should be working/interacting with your employer for your next/all steps to avoid major issues like hitting the border without visa.

So, I am a positive LMIA and a Visitor Visa to Canada.
I need a work permit to go there and start working. In order to get a WP I have to either apply online or get a WP at PoE.
I am planning to go directly to a PoE and try getting a WP. I just want to know if that is possible in my case or not?

If possible what are the advantages or disadvantages?

Please ask in those threads as we are all new for work permit. Here most are with PR visas that were processed by ourselves. Hardly one or two candidates might be having work permit hence you wont get right answer. Ask in those threads at FOreign WOrkers.

Again, when LMIA was processed and sponsored by your employer then why are you not asking them? Because you should not receive wrong guidance and exit the country and you would end up in trouble at Canadian border. Immigration issues are very serious for legal folks hence please get advice from right people.

Do you have a valid U.S. visa?

Yea I don’t think you can. I have a LMIA exempt application too. I also have a Canadian visitor visa, still can’t do it.

Are you sure?
because the website says that if you meet a few requirements you can. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio.../permit/temporary/eligibility.html#port_entry

1. Entering from US.
2. Quarantine plan.
3. Valid offer letter
4. You do not need a Visitor visa to enter Canada. (We have one plus we are already approved if our WP gets approved.)

I hope that makes sense.
