Dear members,
I have two questions:

1. Can my parents enter Canada from the US by road with their COPR or does it have to be by air directly from the home country?
2. When we entered Canada as part of FSW, we had to bring a document showing items we are carrying and another one for items to follow. Does it apply for parents as well?

Thanks.

Are they living in the US? Not sure of the 14 days in US before entering Canada by land still applies.

Where are your parents from India? Which state since only Repartation flights are started and ongoing
Wondering u mentioned ur Parents will fly out in Late August September
Did you already book their tickets ?? Since u mentioned u have an expired COPR and you don't have an extension?
My parents are from Mumbai- They were booked on KLM originally and I believe they are allowed to operate flights and am also following twitter handle of minister of aviation- they are pretty close to having flights to Canada restored via Air Bubbles- unless they decide to make some more money for Air India. NDVO is working on a limited scale, however they most likely are not issuing renewals as flights have not restarted. I just advised them of an estimate time of travel so that at least by Oct they can issue the extension. Lets see- will keep an eye on the online GC key.

Did Cic Canada tell you specifically that New Delhi will be issuing and extension for the COPR /Visa?

When we informed cic Canada they told me that I should be contacting them for and they would advise further instructions.

Unless you don't send the webform again when your parents are ready to travel Cic Canada will not issue any extension that's my understanding

Do keep me posted .My parents are also back in India and we are too waiting for the flights to start.

Aviation minister India they all.just want to make money via Air India agree with you!

Thank you for the info- do you have the email for CIC Canada? I was under the impression that a webform needs to be filed within 30 days of expiry of COPR and further instructions will be provided then. I think it was Neeti2020 that filed a webform , their visa office being NDVO and COPR expired in April- the application status changed to submitted from approved for them.

Also had received an email on May 1st from IRCC as below

If your CoPR expires before you are able to travel to Canada:
  • If you have not already done so, please contact us using the webform to let us know if you are not able to travel to Canada before your document expires. If you have already done this, we have the information and you don’t need to submit another.
  • You may not get an immediate response to your enquiry indicating the next steps, but we are reviewing all enquiries. IRCC is working hard to determine the next steps for clients in this situation. We’re not sure yet when updates or instructions on this will become available, but we will make sure that they are communicated as soon as next steps are decided on.
  • Please also continue to regularly check on our COVID-19 webpage for updates.
Thank you for your patience during these exceptional circumstances.

Received following email from CIC after submitting web form

Thank you for contacting Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
We verified the information you provided; however, we require further information in order to access the file.
In order to better assist you, we invite you to resubmit your request by filling out the IRCC Web form and by following these instructions:
  • If you are the sponsor and are inquiring about the principal applicant, include the following information in the Your enquirybox of the Web form:
    • the sponsor's surname and complete given name (including middle name, if applicable),
    • the sponsor's date of birth (YYYY-MM-DD), and
    • the sponsor's country of birth, and
  • In the Applicant information section of the Web form, enter the principal applicant's information.
We will gladly reply to your enquiry within five business days following reception of the above information.
Furthermore, the Government of Canada is closely monitoring the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and any impacts on IRCC clients.
You are outside Canada and your permanent residence application has been approved, but you can't travel to Canada before your documents expire, or your documents have already expired? Rest assured that you do not need to contact us until you are ready to travel to Canada.
When you are ready to travel to Canada, we invite you to follow the instructions on our website to notify us. We will then tell you what to do next.
For more information on the situation and to receive up-to-date information, we invite you to verify our website.
We hope the information provided is helpful in assisting you with your enquiry.
We would also like to suggest the following online services that might be helpful to you with any immigration, refugee and/or citizenship future requests:
Sincerely,

Anyone here whose parents were sponsored from Quebec and they entered Canada through Montreal airport? Would like to know how is the immigration procedure. Also, is there any list of items that the parents need to bring with them except for COPR and CSQ?

Hi
Sorry I wouldn’t be able to answer your question but I have a question for you.
I am also from Quebec and my parents were sponsored in 2018. Since medical done in February this year we are in total blackout period.
When was your medical done? And what are the next steps? Is there anything you did to fast track your application?
Thank you.

Hi,
I am also from quebec and my parents were sponsored in 2018 and medical was done in November 2019. The results were updated on December 10, 2019. No updates after that. It shows background processing. My parents got the CSQ in May 2019 and it is valid for 2 years and will expire in May 2021. I read in the forum that the New delhi Visa office is closed till september this year. Not sure what to do.

My parents had their immigrant visa stamped in September 2019. If I were you, I would keep an eye on the government websites of both Canada and Quebec (MID) to look for updates. I believe everyone who were in the middle of the process would be impacted in the same way because of the slowdown. You can reach out to MIDI separately to see if there will be any extension of the CSQ.

HiAll,

I want to apply for my parents sponsorship to Canada .Please i need experts inputs.
Both My Parents are in early 70's - Mom had done bypass surgery in 2006 and is diabetic and My dad has left vision damaged.
They both are alone in India and want to come and stay with me.
  1. Now what are the chances they will get PR approved ? My last three years income is above the Minimum requirement level?
  2. Will there medical conditions matter ?
  3. Any recommendations for any lawyers in Ontario (GTA Area) ?
  4. what is the total process cost for both of them ?
  5. If PR application gets rejected on medical grounds can we appeal?
Please help
Thanks
