Apply for Express Entry while application for PGWP extension pending

I am wondering if I can apply for Express Entry while my application for the extension of PGWP is still in progress?

You can always apply enter the Express Entry pool if you meet the minimum requirements. I assume you're extending your PGWP because of passport expiry.
