Moving to Canada while you have an outland application pending.

Hi guys,

I applied to sponsor my husband moving from Mexico to Canada, applying from outside of Canada. Our application was received March 26, but we still haven't heard back.

Due to COVID and other recent circumstances, we would like to move to Canada ASAP, but aren't sure about the process for the application. Is there anyway we can update it? Or can we simply move to Canada now with him entering as a visitor and finish the application process from there?

Looking forward to hearing from any one familiar with this situation. Any insight is helpful!

He can come to Canada as a visitor and you can simply wait out the processing of the application there. He will need to apply to extend his visitor status to keep himself legal in Canada until processing is complete.

When applying for TRV under this circumstance do you think it's better to come clean and state the intention of waiting out the process in Canada or should always aim to prove the intention of spouse visiting temporarily and planning to back to country of origin?
