Hi guys. Actually I got an offer of admission from Guelph university for mechanical engineering.
I heard that this university doesn't have a good engineering department and this program is not really good there.
can anybody help me to know that what should I do?
I want to know that I have to accept the offer or start applying for other universities like Carleton for next semester.
I will really appreciate if you help me to choose the best one between Guelph and Carleton.

If you are a Nigerian student i would advise you not to pick Carleton it's a good school tho but the fees are insane....way high....

Hi can you shade some light...I will be coming as a PR in canada, I would like to study again there but I am 2011 passout. So is there any problem getting admission in a college because of the study gap?

No Mr pg12 study gap doesn't mean as long as you were not idle from 2011 to 2020 you must have been busy with activities....and when you meant a 2011 pass out you meant highschool ryy.....as for the college it would and won't be hard depending on your country of origin and the gap if you can write a convincing sop it wont be a problem....

Highly disagree. Good university is worth the investment as it will last you a lifetime. Also, helps more than college for both PR and job purposes.

Mr tapperb i would bodly agree to your claims if you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident......if you are from a country like Africa where the exchange rate between African currencies and dollars is way high u would get my point......it's like you are telling an average parent whose child has aspirations to study like mech engineering in Canada in University of Toronto where fees is like 70,000 a year for 4yrs without feeding and living costs....that's why most international students fail to complete their studies and the others run them selves into student loans and their parents into debts with loans to complete their education at the end get a 60k yearly job to pay off debts all because they failed figure out the needful before applying to high league colleges....and Canadian government has made it easy if you are in a college or University registered under DLI you have the right to apply for a work permit and then PR...
My two cents: students especially from Africa before you choose colleges or universities endeavor to check the international fees first which is like 4times the average fee for Canadian students..
Mr tapperb I really do get your point but when you are from a country like Africa you get me better except you are the son of a prominent senator or a wealthy man,or even a full scholarship affording universities ranked from 1-10 in Canada would be a bit difficult for the middle class and lower....

I am talking about graduation. I am an engineer and I have work experience. I am not looking for any university admission, just college admissions. I read in some forums that the colleges or univ's do not give admission in post graduate courses if you have more than 5 years of study gap, I found it very weird.

No ooo that's why I advice to do research well on schools what might not work for them might for you......and the issue of 5yrs gap it's not correct, even if one is a high school graduate with 5yrs of not gap that doesnt mean you won't get admission all the school and Visa officer is concerned about is the fact that you were not idle during those gaps.....I read a testimony recently of an high school graduate with 10yrs gap he got admission into the advanced diploma program in electrical engineering at Conestoga college and is already a graduate now so the fact that one has gap is not a disadvantage to not be admitted, and you are even a graduate your clause is plausible as you were working in those gaps.....the only problem is convincing a Visa officer with accurate points of activities......like the old adage says it's one is never to old to stop learning...
As for the issue of post graduate program....if you graduated with a bachelor's degree you are meant to be going for a master's program not something lower else Visa won't be issued...

Thanks for your detailed reply, I just wanted to ask you one more thing that if I moved to canada after PR, then there won't be any issue of the visa officer...right ?! Then I would only need to secure admission in a particular college ?!

Sure that's only if you are a PR citizen in Canada already which I assume you are then you don't need a study visa
