I applied in January 2020. I'm currently in the pool, but there's been no movement since March 13th 2020. I have been waiting since March 2019 (never got invited for the 2019 entry). Should I just give up with this route altogether?

Will IEC continue to draw from pools during the COVID-19 pandemic?
No, IEC will not be sending out new rounds of invitations at this time. They are on hold until further notice.

Will IEC be processing applications?
IRCC is continuing to accept submissions of profiles into IEC pools. However, due to service interruptions, applications are not being processed at this time.

No applications in process will be closed or refused due to a lack of documentation or inability to complete the application process in time, such as giving biometrics or completing a medical exam.

Yes - they are on hold per the post above.

I don't think you should give up. Just assume it may be a number of more months before processing restarts.

EDIT: Just realized you haven't actually applied yet but are just in the pool waiting to be selected. Answer is pretty much the same. Draws are on hold and we don't know when they will restart. But they will restart eventually.

My country is heavily oversubscribed. I don't see myself getting it. It's been at "very low" since March 2019 when I first applied. 17K candidates in the pool and 3K spots available. Am I correct in thinking the invitation process is totally random? Or do they filter by things like age, length of time in pool, etc.

Lots of info I cannot find online on this topic.

Are you from the UK? If so, yes, the program is always very oversubscribed with way more people looking to be selected than spots available.

Yes - selection os 100% random. No filters.

I'm French and it's even more oversubscribed. 17K applicants vs 3K spots, vs UK's 6K to 2K.

Yes - Frace is a very popular program as well.

No harm staying in the pool. You might get lucky.

I have just last week submitted by spousal sponsorship application (my wife is Canadian). I planned to do that a year into my WHV and on Canadian soil, but as I didn't get the invite, I guess I will just go for full PR. I will continue in the pool, because why not. I guess it will not harm my spousal application? Thanks.
