Hi all,
I landed in Canada as new immigrant on PR in Sept 2019 and worked part time from Oct 2019 to Dec 2019 and earned CAD 2200 and my employer provided me T4 form. But due to some reasons I left Canada on 30 Dec 2019 and currently I am outside Canada for last 3.5 months and might probably my stay outside Canada would be 7 months. Can I apply for tax returns for year 2019 while I am staying outside Canada and currently I am not earning anything in my home country. Thanks in advance.

As you will be coming back after 7 months, I would suggest filing your taxes. CRA asks everyone who is a resident either permanent/temporary or employed/unemployed to file taxes. It would be good for you to get tax credits and all benefits next year.

Ok thanks, my main question is:
I am currently outside Canada, and two tax agents said I cannot file or submit tax returns because I am outside Canada, is it true ? I want to know what is legal requirement to submit tax returns, I should be in Canada or I can submit while I am outside temporary.
Thanks

You made below the basic personal amount, so unless you meet one of the other criteria, you don't have to file a 2019 return.

Thanks for your reply. For example its not mandatory that I should submit a tax returns, but what If i want to submit by my own choice? I just want to submit it because I am going to apply for OSAP (Masters program starting from September) and they need tax returns details.
But let suppose i am eligible to submit tax returns as I got T4 form from employer, is it legal to submit if a person is currently outside Canada and will return back after few months or officially it is not allowed to submit tax returns while you are presently not in Canada.

Of course it's legal to submit a tax return from outside of Canada.

Thank you so much, I dont know why two tax agents in Canada said I cannot submit tax returns of my last years employment in Canada (I worked only two months part time) when I am not physically present in Canada at the moment.
