It is not an infringement on your privacy. When you sponsor your spouse that too as a permanent resident, the government have the rights to verify whether the relationship is genuine or not. Blame those people who are indulging into sham marriages just to obtain the permanent residency. It is because of them the government has laid strict rules in investigating every applicants relationship. Remember only spousal sponsorship has no other criteria to qualify for PR except for a genuine relationship. All others have various criteria. I hear your frustration and understand your feelings but they are trying to do their best especially given the Covid 19 outbreak. Wish you good luck in getting the visa soon.
I totally agreed with your statement. I would like to add here that Canada Immigration is the safest one.

every person has a right to dignity and respect. If I declare all is true and authentic and provide proper photo and documents, that should be enough. If they are so concerned why dont they do follow-up interviews? after marriage and spouse has arrived? and check -in on married couple. give temporary visa's instead of permanent residence. This also protects the person sponsoring from dishonest people that trick others into believing marriages are authentic.

They already have lots of problems to deal with... thier first lady trudeau's wife is infected with covid 19 and you guys are thinking about your applications process time
at least he is with his wife! they are lucky they are together. If my spouse or I get infected I am totally alone. That is not fair. and the point is 1yr to process is toooo damm long. So much of life can change in a second, forget all that can happen in 12 months. Baby can be born in less time. the processing time is rediculous! especially when they gove out tourist/work permit/study permit like candy within 4 weeks. not to mention the express entry program. The government has put spousal sponsorship on the back burner because it does not get them money and votes!. all i am saying is you have a right to speak your truth and how this long time line has affected your lives. tell the governemnt, the newspaper, your MP. They are the ones that approved this time frame and they can change it, all we have to do is keep asking.

Hope this message gives hope to many people those are waiting for DM or PPR.

Our File was received on 5th July 2019. Contacted our local MP's office last week. Got an update today from the MP's office that the processing has been finalized for the applicant on 17th March but due to the current situation it may not have been updated. The staff number is less and they are working on critical files.
ECAS still says in process..... once they are fully operational we all should be receiving our long awaited updates.

What information did the mp office asked for?
File number, UCI number and then I had to fill up consent form for them to contact IRCC for the file status on behalf of me that's it. They responded quickly. Please write a mail explaining your situation and then based on that they will get back to you.

Must wait the 12 month period before any MP will place their name on an inquiry.. if thats the case I am June 19 applicant and am waiting on Dm and PPR only from NDVO.. i am hoping this will happen soon. I am very good contacts with MP and even they advised they cant inquire before the 12 months. Thats good tho.. hope you get the good news soon!

May be it depends on the personal situations ....... I'm here with my son from past 1 and half years..... we are married for 14 years.... they even rejected our visit visa for my husband...l explained how difficult it was to manage a 7 year old child and a job and more over I'm stuck at home because of Covid-19 school closure unable to get to work. At that point there was no announcement about the emergency care bill. I was worried about my next rent and bills so wrote the mail. By God's grace I have got this update ...hope others also get some hope.
