I have asked some panel physicians and got the same reply. Starting from March 25th, applicants cannot make an appointment to do a medical exam only if they have IME number. From my understanding, the upfront medical exam does not require an IME number, is that right?

If this is the case, what should we do to the upfront medical exam in ITA documents? Should I just submit nothing in that part and write it in the LOE? I worry that this will postpone my case for over a year since I am currently under PGWP and suppose to go Ph.D. program in September. I was hoping to have things done around Sep. so that I do not need to apply for another study permit ( PS: looks like study permit also takes forever now :(

Highly appreciate for any ideas, advice.

Anyone has any ideas?
Of course you should have already applied for a Study Permit, you cannot rely on having your PR processed by September when you've just received your ITA. Normally, applications can easily take 9-10 months or even a year, in regular circumstances.

If you think you'll have your PR by September and you'll risk not being able to start your PhD in September, and the risk is pretty high.

IRCC has already announced no application will be refused on the basis of missing documents/components, in your case the medical exam. It will just be put on hold until you can actually provide the missing documents.

Thanks! I'm thinking the regular process time of PR is around 6 month or shorter. Also, I'm currently outside of Canada due to the travel ban, but I may return to Canada when the government announces the exemption. Do you think I should apply for the study permit outside of Canada or inside Canada?

If you apply from outside of Canada you'll be required to have a Medical exam done. You're technically just on vacation and hopefully won't be very long before you come back so I'd say the latter. You'll probably be required to submit biometrics, which you might already have in file.

You can complete the process online and apply listing your Canadian address l, this will surely save you some time.

That is what I did last year, I applied for my Study Permit while on PGWP on March 31st. Had it approved on May 3rd. Submitted my PR application on May 2nd and had it approved this year on February 3rd (became PR on February 26, 2020).
As you see if I hadn't applied for a study permit and hoped to have my PR approved before going back to school I would not had been able to start studying and I had already quit my job, so applying for the Study Permit was the best thing I could have done.

This is really helpful!!!! PS: you are right, I came back to China on vacation and then this whole thing happened.
While you applied a new one (not the extended option) inside Canada, do I understand it correctly? Again, thank you!!!

I guess, I mean "Restoration of your status as a student“ + ”An initial or an extension of a study permit", am I right?

I don't quite get what you're trying to say.

What I did was:
  • Completed Master's with Study Permit (2017)
  • Got PWGP from 2017 to 2020
  • Applied for Second Study Permit on March 2019
  • Applied for PR in May 2019
  • Got Study Permit Approved in May 2019
  • Started School again in Sept 2019
  • PR approved on Feb 2020

Very clear! Thanks!

Not just in China. I'm in Canada now and all panel physicians I called told me that the upfront medical exams are stopped globally instructed by IRCC...

I guess now everyone can submit the ITA documents without a medical exam and they cannot refuse one because of this. It's hard but it's fair tho.

they are asking for IME number, how do I get that?
I have all my other documents ready other than the medical exam, should I just submit my express entry PR application and explain to them why I can't get medical exam or should I wait a bit longer.

I submitted it without the medical exam and explained it. Who knows how long this will last.

Hi

Can you update the forum when you receive your AOR . Was medicals the only thing missing in your application?
Will do. Yes, the upfront medical exam is the only part missing in my application. I heard the biometric is ceased as well, not sure if it applies to other countries or not.
