They've already said COPR will be extended if you can't travel to Canada before expiration of your documents, which we can't do at the moment.

You don't have to worry about that.
Did they say extended or being put in the express entry again so have to go through the same process again?

Guys keep this Thread only for CoPr people with expiry date which is happening soon, related to Coronavirus issue. Please do not deviate from the topic by discussing Study visa or other related things.
We started this Thread to discuss future Permanent resident people who sold their goods, quit their jobs and left in Limbo without news.
Stick to each other, share all official news we get and try to bring positivity to elevate the moral of people on here.
For people who have expiry date in December or end of the year, You are safe, you can bring us news if you want, but remember that this Thread is for people who will have expiry date CoPr while the ban is happening ...

Just all keep in mind that airlines as sure everyone here knows are parking up the majority of their planes/laying off staff given either they do not want to fly empty or due to countries banning international arrivals completely making even transits challenging. let alone directs

Even as and when things improve which could be months away airlines cannot simply 'unpark' their planes and reactivate their crews. They may have to schedule safety checks/maintenance and then cabin crews / pilots may or may not have licence/ hours issues depending how long this goes on assuming of course the airlines have not actually fired people versus put them on unpaid leave.

Not going to be easy for airlines who may even use this as an opportunity to retire planes and non profitable routes.

Seems pretty optimistic for example that Trumps UK/EU 30 day flight ban will not go on for a few months and you could say the real winners may be the climate change activists

As for calling an airline call center unfortunately it is what happens at checkin that is important as call centers generally are not always the most reliable source of upto date information.
I read airline industry will be facing $200-300 mil losses for the next 2 weeks.

I am from Delhi and today my Father went to Canadian embassy in person here in Delhi and showed them my CoPR/PRV and was told that currently CoPRs are not allowed to travel and we should wait for few days ( 6-7 days) for next update.

In this scenario as we are not able to travel due to Canada's travel ban we must fill Web Form and send email to local VO stating the same with documentary proofs and wait for update from Local VO. I did the same and attached ticket bookings.

I hope they open entries for CoPR holders by next update ( Once influx of Canadian Citizens and PR holders calms down on 4 airports open right now) or at least give some info on CoPR visa extension without getting medical / PCC done again. But as we have just 10 days left before expiry most likely visa extension is the only option for people like us given that we might not even get air tickets in such haste.

I am jobless and just using this time to enhance my skills and working on things i wanted to do for sometime like creating a Udemy course and writing technical blog LOL. But if situation stays the same for more than 30-40 days without any clear direction from IRCC I will find a job here in India.

Meanwhile Stay home , Stay healthy, Stay packed and ready to go at all times while utilizing free time to do something positive :)
Could you please share local VO email address?.

My COPR expires on the 24th and my flight is today via BA.

I’ve called the airline and gone to their office. I’ve reached out to CBSA and IRCC but nothing concrete.

I plan to board tonight and see what happens.
A friend of mine called the Pearson airport and they said they will accept copr

I will keep you guys updated, I hope it all goes well. Fingers crossed.

stay positive and hang in there!
We will all be fine

Been worried too. So I put a call through to the airline, I even chatted to be double sure, Now heading to their office in VI to be triple sure. All I got is that pple with COPR can fly. So I will travel as planned.
Even if you were to board the plane I don't think you will be allowed to enter Canada. As of now, only Canadian & US citizens and PR card holders can land in Canada.

Don't take risk. Wait till May for things to calm down!!

Hi guys,
I have been reading this forum and like most of you, my COPR will be expiring very soon, on April 6 to be exact.
I was supposed to travel yesterday but rebooked the flight due to strict instructions from CBSA who I called on March 17 and they advised me not to arrive as I will not be allowed to enter.
I sent a webform immediately to my local IRCC office in Abu Dhabi and I received a response a few minutes back advising me that they do not know how long the travel ban will be in place and that if it is lifted before April 6, I should inform them that I will be able to travel.
However, they have assured that if I am unable to travel before the expiry of my visa due to the travel ban IRCC will be as flexible as possible which is a confirmation that they will extend it for a certain period of time.
I am certainly relieved to a large degree and would like you all to know that they will definitely make it as easy as possible for all of us who may not be able to travel due to the restrictions.

I was going to stay through airbnb for a week and search for accommodation from there.

Situation seems to be quite worse than expected so I'm also thinking about moving in May.
ya I would say thats a better call. considering that 2 weeks you would have to anyway be in self quarantine, doesn't make sense na. think about it

Thanks Islander for update that Airlines are barring us.

I have a flight in 3 days and will have to cancel it. I am in a similar. No Job, No house, sold car and other belongings. This is total nightmare. My CoPR expires in 12 days too. It's been 2 days since Trudeau's announcement. They clearly didn't think about CoPRs and made the announcement in haste.
On top of it allowing US citizens to enter Canada but not us is like rubbing salt on wound.
I too can relate ankurgupta. I am from Mumbai n also gave up job sold car n everything n now we r going to have to start dipping into the savings we kept to use for our first few months in Canada
