MY COPR WILL EXPIRE AFTER 10 DAYS
please minimize traffic on this thread except for the important updates , somebody is complaining about COPR expiring in December !!!!!!!!!! , bruh mine will expire in 10 days.

The problem about the web form that they did not confirm that COPRs will be extended , we need a substantial confirmation that it will be extended.

Actually i was royally stressed from the beginning , my visa was issued only on 13 February as well , so 6 weeks of landing deadline and now the Corona thing.

of Course it is different from one person to another , but generally most people SHOULD NOT LAND NOW , in terms of hotels , services , jobs and all the daily functions and government services are interrupted. reasonably it is not the right time to start in another country.

I am astonished from the people here who wants to land now , even traveling could be risky for contracting the virus and spreading it else where

Well said! Everyone is worried about their COPR visa and expiration, but what about health? While I understand everyone here has waited long and hard for their PPR (believe me, I get it), people need to understand that this is a dangerous public health situation and Canada is seeing exponential growth in the number of covid19 cases. What will you do if you land in the midst of this pandemic and get infected? What happens to you/your family? How do you access healthcare and prescription drugs in such a situation? Even a bottle of hand sanitizer is hard to come by right now. Imagine finding housing, transport, supplies etc.

Canada closed their borders because they cannot deal with the logistics of incoming traffic with existing healthcare constraints. Ofc Canada is prioritizing its citizens above everyone else. It makes sense tbh. Most of our home countries are doing the same.

Let's trust the process and wait for further instructions. If they've imposed a ban, they'll surely take that into consideration while reviewing expired COPRs. Stay positive and good luck, everyone.

I understand the frustration bro. My CoPR expires on 31st March. I have three tickets booked in next 10 days, left job, sold everytging. We need to keep this thread alive.

Really hope IRCC gives some definite update ASAP and some clarity so CoPR holders don't take health risks in haste.

UPDATE: March 18, 2020
From white house briefing just now. Even US CITIZENS can't across the border now for visiting and tourism. US - Canada border completely shuts down except essentials - like trucks and tradings. Details coming soon.

I myself is a COPR holder in US with expiration in October 2020.

I think if US citizens can travel to other countries first and then go to Canada, as long as their flight is still allowed to go.

Only thing we can do is to wait the response for COPR extension after they can have a look at our case.

Yes I agree. It only affects the 5500 miles land border. However, more details should be coming soon from both sides of governments. Also, I don't think there will be large number of US citizens who are trying to visit Canada at this point, unless it's business and other essential trips that must be made. Let's be patient and see.

There's no way this is going to be lifted by March 29th.

Under the new rules - can we fly from USA to Canada and complete the landing? I have been in the US for more than a year continuously.

You’ve got a job etc? Place to stay?
let me know how it pans out for you Cos I was thinking of May but then I wasn’t sure of the scene in canada so thought I’d wait it out!

For all the persons wanting to travel to Canada even though there is a temporary ban- I went into Costco yesterday and the freezers that are normally full of chicken were literally empty. Another supermarket was selling only 1 pack of any meat item per customer. It must be frustrating but its better to WAIT until things settle a bit here in Canada. This current state of evens is no joke and its better not travel to a country in crises. All restaurants and bars are closed in my city (except those with take out)- the shopping mall is closed. What will you do if you get here and need additional winter gear- its getting warmer but my temp was -2C this morning. Take these delays in stride and just wait it out.
Thanks for sharing this!
