Hello All,

Employer has received a letter with following question.

[X] Please advise what you were previously doing for child care care.

Anybody else in the group received the same letter?

Thanks
I did actually received that letter to let them know what we we’re previously doing for child care. Basically just to let the officer know as to why am I hiring a child provider now since we managed to care the older kids before. Explain to the officer what you and you’re husband we’re doing before like switching shifts he works night and you work day shift, dropping the kids to your friends house when you’re both working etc etc. and I believe that made a huge impact on the officer. Plus they could see the genuineness of the letter coz it reflects on both of me and my husband’s employment letter since we requested to mention there our schedule/hours of work. I received the letter request Jan 14 and submitted all the requested docs Jan 17 ( NOA,kids birth certificate, employment letter, explanation letter on how we were managing child care ). After exactly 4weeks we received the biometrics and medical request. Wish I could update the spreadsheet then you could all see all the updated info timeline. Biometrics and medical has also been done last week and waiting for further news.

You see it is not about previous experience, VO should be able to feel that person will be to carry out these duties. If you see in Canada they give some lessons to expecting mothers before handing over baby to them.. they don't want mothers to have previous child care experience. All they do is give some education on child care and some practical sessions. Child care is not rocket science but applicant shouldn't be naive. Any education regarding caregiver or practical experience should be sufficient.
There is a difference between mother taking care of a child and having a professional taking care of a child. Even-though the experience part is not mentioned in the guidelines they have mentioned to submit pay stubs, reference letters or contracts which is only possible if one will have a work experience.
Giving few lessons to mother doesn't make the mother a qualified child care specialist but still they will hand over the child because its child mother, who can take care of a child better than his/her mother and secondly its not mandatory for a mother to take classes. its optional.
Coming back to the professional part, there are many federal and provincial program where the guidelines are not clear about the work experience but that does not mean that the experience is not necessary.
Lets take an example of real case here - one of my client got an interview and the first question that was asked was how much experience she has? She answered and complete the rest of the interview and got the visa few days later. Now just think for a moment and imagine yourself at that point and VO asking you the same question as how much experience you have and you replying with the answer that "mothers dont need work experience to take care of their child so then why we need it? or your guidelines does not mention about work experience and so why are you asking?

what do you think will be an outcome here?

I am talking from my experience I have read many GCMS notes for the people who got refused and majority were that VO was not convinced that applicant will be able to perform jobs.

Cheers,

Can somebody help me here
I have a question regarding experience of the home child care employee. She has a job experience of 3 years with play school, will that be considered as relevant experience and now she has new job working as elementary teacher since February2020 What kind of documentation will be required to prove experience from past and present employers.

it could work, but emphasize more on the reference letter if you will submit any, and be careful with the job duties mentioned in the experience letter. I am RCIC , if you need any assistance you can contact me.
