Hi everyone,

I have a PR card and passports from two different countries. I came to Canada using the first passport which is now expired.
Nationality on my PR card is the same as the one on the expired passport.

Can I exit Canada and come back again using the second passport?

Thanks

1. Yes.

Important question, are you travelling back and forth to USA by land or to some other countries (i.e. by air)?

The question of whether you will be allowed to enter Canada at a port of entry doesn't help you much if you won't be allowed to board a flight.

He has a valid PR card. Would bring both passports just in case although I think you will be fine. What is important is the valid PR card and your name, DOB And other identifying information are the same and picture looks the same.

Overall agree, have just found some airlines wildly inconsistent about what they demand. Better if at all possible to renew the passport.

The PR card is not actually tied to thst nationality. It is perfectly fine to travel with whichever passport you want.

Thanks guys.
I'd like to travel to Europe with the second passport and then I'll renew my first passport.
The thing is that I've never used the second passport, it's completely empty so I've been worried about that too.

Where could I confirm this? It's always better to be 100% sure.

Passports can be empty. It doesn't make them any less valid.

You are not going to find outright confirmation of it anywhere from IRCC. The confirmation is the fact that NOWHERE is it stated that you must travel with a passport of the nationality listed on the PR card.

In general usually best to travel with one passport especially during one trip. Constantly changing passports may cause concerns from various border agents eventually.
