We are a family of 3, our daughter is 12 years old. My daughter has a PR card and she is studying in India.

We applied for our citizenship and since shes a child, we could also apply for her.

I will get the Canada passport , and renounce our Indian passport and apply for OCI.

My question is , my daughter has travelled to India for her studies and her stamp is on Indian passport.

Now since passport changed, will she have an issue when she comes back to Canada?

Also, when we renounce her Indian passport and apply for OCI, for that brief period, will her stay in India become illegal? Do we need any document for her to stay in India?

If she is studying at the moment in India, why you want to change her status ? Let her remain Indian national till her studies finish , after that give up Indian nationality .

Is she fulfilling the days required from the physical presence calculator? How can you renounce her Indian passport when she is there? You are obviously trying to get her passport in and then submit it at BLS after you get your citizenship - but if at BLS they want her to be present while the passport is being submitted it might become a tricky affair.

My neighbour did not opt for Canadian citizenship for his daughter yet and waiting till 18 to do it as some schools even ask for citizenship or else they need to pay higher fees.
