my boyfriend moved to Canada to work and i moved a few yrs later, got a work visa through his work but his is specific to him and its open/restricted while mine is just open...what if he left me? would my visa be cancelled right away or what? or am i good until expiration date and i could continue working at my job and going about my life... i'm just thinking of the worst scenarios and i love living here and my job so i gotta be prepared for everything right?! this is so confusing! hope someone has answers.

You can remain in Canada and continue working as long as your work permit is valid.

Extending your work permit will be another matter.

You can - however your employer will need to go through the LMIA process. This is quite involved and expensive with no guarantee of approval. It's generally difficult to find employers to go through this process. If your employer is willing start a minimum of six months before your current WP expires.
