Hi all,

I have a situation:
I entered Canada with a tourist visa which allows me to stay in canada for 6 month and it expires i 2024.
After i arrived in canada, because my husband is holding a work permit i was granted an open work permit for 2 years. At the bottom of the work permit it is mentioned that "this does not authorize re entry"
Question:
I have been in canada for more than 6 month, that means i have used up all my tourist visa. Do i need to renew my tourist visa in order to stay in canada?

2. Is my work permit enough to allow me stay in canada for 2 years(duration of my permit is 2 years)

Thank you for your time

You can stay in Canada.

If you don't have a valid visa in your passport, you won't be allowed back in if you leave. You need a valid visa to re enter. You said above you have one, so you're able to try to re enter. It's. Up to CBSA though.

You can stay in Canada.

Do you think when i'm going to re-enter canada, the officer will check the number of days that i stayed in canada and see if i have stayed 6 month, then dont allow me in OR they will just check if i have a visa which expires in 2024

They will mostly be concerned with the visa.

The 6 month visitor status is irrelevant. Your visitor status ended when your work permit was issued.

Hi, yes agree as i have been working in canada for the past 2 month.
Does this mean i could travel with the existing temporary visa in and out of Canada? Eventhough i'm not using the visitor status, i'm still using the same visa to travel in and out of canada?
Could someone explain that how it works?

Yes.

There is nothing to explain. It is a TRV and you use it as normal.
