I think this is simply an answer to your follow up email. I also received a similar response when I followed up my application through web form. I do not know why they do not send AOR (including file number)!

Hi I have raised a webform and got reply within 3 days.Since July I'm waiting for AOR.Including biomrtric fee I applied.

A quick question - how long does it take to get any follow up after making an inquiry of file status through web form?

I am waiting for AOR from cic since 6 month but nothing yet, so sent them my inquiry via web form yesterday but never recieved any confirmation email for that.

There is no confirmation email. You will receive a response shortly (2-3 businesses days). Please keep us posted. I am in the same situation, waiting for AOR for about 6 months.
