I just received my medical on Dec 29 and completed it on Jan 2.

Heard medical is a sign that an approval is coming, atleast for study permit.

I read it takes 30 days to process after the medical and my classes start Jan 20.

Should I differ the semester?

A medical is not in any way a sign of approval.

unless the applicant is from Bangladesh. Majority of BD applicants are asked for medicals if they are almost being approved for study permit.

Refused applicants are requested for medicals as well.

Not necessarily .
Hi . I applied for a student’s visa on December 3rd with my husband as my dependent and yesterday I got a biometric correspondence letter but no medical request. I read somewhere that correspondence letter without medical mean refusal. but my agent said it is not true .
Help me please i am very tensed at-the moment.

thats how it goes my dear in BD. Pretty much 98% of applicants have been asked for medicals first and then asked for passport submission. [We don't submit passport while lodging application. Immigration only asks for passport once they call medical and medical is all clear. [Source: IDP ]

In BD applicants are not asked for medicals if they have already decided to refuse the applicants. You can check with IDP Bangladesh.

No idea what IDP is. Applicants in every country can and are refused after the medical.

They can be still declined if medical went wrong and if they had criminal records. IDP is like British Council. You can also take IELTS with them.

So not IRCC or in any way associated with IRCC and therefore in no way qualified to comment on IRCC approvals and refusals.

Apps can and are refused even if the medical is passed.

Let me be honest with you, is a refusal, your agent is lying to you

again...with criminal history yes it can be refused.

Differing won't stop the visa application that's already in processing motion, unless you will cancel your application too.

?

OP doesn't want to stop or cancel the app. They are asking about deferring so that they can start next intake because the app likely won't be approved for this intake.
