hoping you are having a great day. My name is jas singh sidhu. Im international student
In my college if student got below 60 in any course he/she is not allowed to go to next term. I have scored below 60 in one course and im not allowed to go to next term. In order to go to next term i have to clear the course but if i only take this course i will be considered as a part time student. My question is if i go for part time will it effect my post graduation work permit?
I have completed my 2nd term but got 2 courses to clear from term 2, inorder to go to next term. My courses are in march and april. Im totally free in January and February. I will be full time student again in may. Please advise me what to do.
Thank you

It may cost you some additional dollars . You can register for some other course(s ) , which do not count towards your degree , to fulfil the requirements of being a full time student .

But this way you can remain full-time in all the term .

Be prepared to shelve out dollars for these redundant courses.

Thanks for replying. There’s no more courses that i can take i have already completed rest of the courses of term 2, only left with 2 courses that need to be repeated. Is there any way that can solve my problem?

In order to remain full-time ... Register for courses which may not be required for your degree in order to remain full time . These courses can be in any other faculty ( not necessarily yours ) .

Also talk to your registrar to check if this fulfils the requirement of a full time student .

Then take 11 credits from some other faculty courses . Obviously this 11 credit may not count towards your degree requirement . But at least you will be full-time .

What if i take a paper from college that explains the college policy due to which I wasn’t allowed to go to next term and keep full time studies. Also, that says student have to clear the course in order to go to next term and i can send this paper to cic or will send if they asked me the reason for being a part time student. What you think would this work?

Then you are at the mercy of Visa officer . Current rules does not allow this for PGWP . However there have been few cases in this forum where PGWP was granted in such situation . Also there have been many other cases where it has been denied .
However if you have worked off campus the previous term , that work would be deemed unauthorised since you would not be full time in the next term .

My personal opinion would be to not leave any situation at the mercy of Visa officer because there would be more chance of rejection rather than mercy .

At the time of rejection , in all likelihood , they wont ask for explanation . That you will need to do so at the time of PGWP application itself . Invariably in all the cases where a positive view has been taken , there was a suo moto explanation during the PGWP application .

Also if you take the risk , please ensure that you are not part time in any other terms ( including the last term ) . Moreover do take into account whether the risk is for a 3 year PGWP or for a shorter duration and if it is worth taking it.

this is just the best advice ever... dont think about the stress and money you wanna spend... try and get some course to make it up to 19 credits which is far better than jeopardizing the opportunity of getting your PGWP
