CIMA Exemptions for WES

Hi guys,

I am about to apply for my express entry, but I wanted to know if I will be able to use my CIMA exemptions for "two or more certificates" section.

I currently hold a BA(Hons) Business and Management degree and I've received my email exemption for CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting. I read on the CIMA website that they don't issue certificates for the CIMA exemptions, but only an email. Thus, I want to know if WES would consider that under the "two or more certificates" or if I should complete another certificate from scratch before applying.

If they do consider the exemptions, how do I send it to them? Printed email or request CIMA to send me a exemptions transcript.

Thanks in advance.

Nop you won't get CIMA certificate of business accounting as two or more certificates. Is this the foundation level?

If you have completed CIMA Case study that would be evaluated as 3 year bachelors degree by WES and then you can use two or more certificates on EE.

This is not the foundation level. The level before foundation which is generally exempted if you apply for CIMA after a business degree. However, I did read somewhere that someone got "two or more certificates" for completing the certificate level. Nevertheless, I got the exemptions in my case. So, I'm not sure if my exemptions email will suffice to apply for that.

I do not think you will get CIMA partial completion evaluated from WES as a diploma and If that is so that is a disadvantage for CIMA members and as well as other exam completed students who will be ended up in the same situation with a foundation level student when entering to the pool. :O.

Nevertheless, WES evaluates only the transcripts. So, I do not know how how to deal with it and this is only my experience and personal opinion. Not a professional advice.

Thanks for the input bro. I hope more people can bring in more input on this topic as well.

I confirmed with CIMA finally, that a transcript for the Certificate Level (Business Accounting) can be obtained if requested and be sent to WES for evaluation.

Just an update here for people in the future:

If you can obtain exemptions for the entire level, they will not provide a certificate, but only an email. If requested, a transcript can be obtained stating the exemptions.
Furthermore, if all but one module from the level was exempted, the student can complete the final module in the certificate level and obtain a certificate along with the transcript.

They did mention that people use the Operational Level certificate as a diploma for migration. However, the local office (Sri Lanka) did not confirm the certificate level acceptance/rejection by WES.

What I need to confirm now is only the following:

- Will WES consider certificate in business accounting under the two or more certificates section because I have a BA (Hons) degree in addition as well (3 Years)?
- Do they need a certificate along with the transcripts or just the transcripts?

Thanks in advance.

WES Does not provide anything like "two or more certificates" in their evaluation report. Any evaluation report will comprise of details of each of your qualification and under a separate heading their Canadian Equivalent Summary. For bachelors degrees they will say 3 or 4 years Canadian Equivalent Bachelor Degree. For masters degree they will say 1 or 2 years Canadian Master Degree. Depending on the summary you can choose your equivalency on your EE profile and claim the points. Then when you lodge the PR file the EE profile and your documents will be evaluated and verified against your CRS score claimed by an immigration officer. So far I have seen CIMA exam completion has been recognized as 3 years Bachelors Degree. Then if you have any other degree which is evaluated as Canadian equivalent you can claim points for 2 or more certificates.

When you create account with WES they will ask transcripts as well as certificate of completion.

Hi guys, I got my wes evaluation and they have evaluated my CIMA exam completion (Including TOP CIMA) as two years of undergraduate study. Any idea why is that?

When did you finish your exams? WES changes their evaluation from time to time.

In 2014. I called Wes and they said they will re evaluate and come back in 5 working days. But I highly doubt anything will change.
WES is very adamant on their evaluations. But we will see. All the people I know are CIMA members who got evaluated as 3 years bachelors degree. Anyway keep posted here on the final outcome.

Also did you get any exemptions to start CIMA from another body?

No. I did the full course. I anyway applied for membership as plan B. I don’t want this to be evaluated as a bachelor. Even a diploma is fine as Wes evaluated my degree as 4 years. Anyway I’ll keep this thread updated on the outcome.
