Though this is a forum for Canada Immigration, I shall answer your question. For more information visit Expat Forum.

The step-step by process which can help you prepare for immigration to Australia as a skilled worker are given below
  • Identify your occupation - Check whether your occupation is listed in one of the lists given below
Skilled Occupations List (SOL) - https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/SOL
Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List (CSOL) - https://www.border.gov.au/Trav/Work/Work/Skills-assessment-and-assessing-authorities/skilled-occupations-lists/CSOL
  • Identify the applicable Visa for PR - There are three visa class for points-tested skilled migration
    Skilled Independent Visa (subclass 189)
    Skilled Nominated Visa (subclass 190)
  • Check your eligibility - Check your score using this calculator. You need a minimum of 60 points to be eligible. https://www.acacia-au.com/skilled-migration-points-test.php
  • Complete IELTS - You need a minimum of 7 in each band (LRWS). You can get IELTS done either from British Council or IDP. Please ensure to select General Training for the test module.
  • Get your skills assessed by relevant authority - There are different authorities approved by DIBP for skills assessment which includes VETASSES, AIM, ACS etc.
  • Submit EOI - An EOI is an indication that you would like to be considered for a skilled visa. An EOI is not a visa application. Based on your score and eligibility you will be invited by Australian government to apply for visa. Check this link to know how to submit an EOI https://www.border.gov.au/Busi/Empl/skillselect
